New pitcher for Tech, Candalari. He gets ahead of Dawson quickly, but Dawson gets to another full count for UK and he walks.

It's great that UK is being so patient. Huge key to this game and even the weekend.

Squires squaring to bunt and Candelari is already over 10 pitches and isn't even through his second hitter. Squires struggling to get the bunt down. He popped it up twice and tries to bunt with two strikes and fouls it off. Very poor at bat.

Tech defender never tagged him but tried to get the call by acting like he did. Dawson just smiles at him.

Aklinski falls behind on some very good pitches but it evens up with two in the dirt. Aklinski then gets hit up on shoulder to get a free base.

Pompey up and Tech pitching coach out to talk about it. Pompey got a lot of one but it died in deep center. Still, everyone tags up to give us two in scoring position.

That Becker rbi single went into no man's land past the mound on the left side.

Gonzalez now on the mound. 3.38 ERA through just 2.2 innings. He challenges Heyer who swings through a middle of the plate fastball.

Tech is napping and Becker advances to second. Heyer then grounds out to first to end the 6th.

7-3 UK

Texas Tech goes 3 up, 3 down in the 7th versus Hjelle. He's been dominant since the first inning. He's at 95 pitches.

Hjelle still out there and he gets a 2-3 swinging strikeout for the first out. Hjelle struggling a tad with his location but he gets a sharp grounder to Heyer who moves glove side and makes the play for out two. Hjelle falls behind 2-0 before grooving one down main street. He then gets a fly ball to left to end the Tech 7th.

We stretch and count down another day at the Cliff with UK leading 7-3.

Bullpen up and throwing for UK. That was probably it for Hjelle. Jimmy Ramsey and maybe one other getting loose.

Ramsey warming in the pen for UK.

Collett now up and he works the count even before striking out swinging. He's swung through some good pitches tonight.

Cottam got one but seems like he got it off the end of the bat. Still, a lot of power behind the deep fly ball that goes for out two.

Johnson puts a great one in the gap and a sports center top play is made by the left fielder who dives towards the wall to make the catch over the shoulder. What a play.

The Minnesota Twin Towers looking to give Tech their first loss. Ramsey not real sharp so far and Holt gets to a full count. Holt really battling Ramsey now. He took an 8 pitch walk.

Ugh.. what the heck!?! Holt gets hung up and Squires triple pumps before throwing it away into center and Holt picks up two bases. What should have been an out gives Tech a runner at third with no outs.

Infield single scores a run. It was a weak grounder to third that died on the grass. Ming doesn't like the call but he's definitely safe.

Cats should have had an out (2nd out) on that play. Runner going to first stepped over the bag and missed it by a mile. Mingione out to argue call, to no avail.

He beat the throw, but unless he clipped a toe he never touched the bag. Umpires huddle but call him safe.

Maybe it's been addressed elsewhere....why on Earth does UK allow the seats behind homepage sit empty at thid late juncture in a game. By the third inning whoever holds those tickets isn't coming. Let some other UK fans fill them in. Better look on TV and having our fans that much closer to holler at the visiting batter is common sense.

Bad break for UK there. Not sure how an umpire misses that since they are taught to listen for the sounds of bag and ball to make the call.

Ramsey gets a deep fly that Aklinski takes in center for the official out number 2.

Completely agree. It's been like that for years, and I've never understood it.

Haake getting loose. Ramsey has been pretty wild. This runner needs to be held at third. Don't want them to pull within bloop-and-blast range.

Are those seats ever full? Seems like they are largely empty most the time.

Now Squires takes his eye off the ball as a pitch glances off his mitt and Jung moves up 90 feet. Then a wild pitch moves him to third.

Belanger out to talk to Ramsey. He gets a tailing fly ball to right and Johnson with a bit of trouble takes it for out three.

UK up 7-4 mid 8
