I've been looking at some of ULL's numbers for this season, and they do SO many things well (.317 team BA, 63 home runs, 29 triples, 35 bunt singles, 102 stolen bases, 0.978 fielding percentage, 55 double plays, 11 shutouts pitched, etc.) that you can really only attribute their success to either one of two things. They are either truly one of the greatest college baseball teams in the nation, or they played against ******** competition. I guess we'll find out soon, even though I suspect I know which one of the two is the real reason they have been so successful.

ULL's stat rankings that were shown during the selection show are remarkable. They are top 5 in the country in both home runs AND stolen bases. That's crazy.

Sun Belt is nothing to sneeze at. They have quality clubs each and every season.

Let's not act like ULL has never made a CWS.

We have a tough road ahead. Guys need to bring their A-game.

ULL RPI 5 SOS 113

Jackson State RPI 269 SOS 299

San Diego State RPI 36 SOS 129

MSU RPI 30 SOS 24

Something looks a little different to me..

That's why we gotta pitch Mitchell against them. He's our toughest pitcher to barrel up.

Well, ...

They are either truly one of the greatest college baseball teams in the nation, or they played against ******** competition.

It can be both. They are a good team and they have played 'lesser' competition than State. Thus, they have a low RPI and a higher SOS.

Well, certainly. No one is arguing how awful the competition they've played has been. It's a matter of whether not that level of competition has inflated their numbers and our sense of how much they should be respected as a team. It's really hard for me to believe that ULL would have put up numbers like they did in the Sun Belt (ESPECIALLY 53 wins) if they were to have played in the SEC.

You can throw those stats away now, it's a matter of which team gets hot now, anything can happen this weekend and the next! I like our matchup with Mitchell pitching against them.

FSU proved those 2 Samford losses were a lot more about how we played that weekend than how Samford played that weekend.

Not to

mention that our club, now, is a great deal more talented (defensively, at least) than that one two years ago.

But....

They only played 5 innings early in the season (rain out) when Lsu couldn't hit or score. My Lsu buddies have been saying if they didn't host they wanted to go to ULL.
