It is starting to get harder beating them though. Did we not scrimmage them before the season started? I do not like scrimmaging them before the season starts. I rather scrimmage somebody else instead.
We scrimmaged Wake before the season as well if I'm not mistaken. I agree with you- I'd rather scrimmage someone else.

Interesting that Erin Matson has never lost to dook as a player or coach; tonight’s game extended the Heels’ winning streak to 13 games over the devils.

And then there’s women’s lacrosse which has beaten dook 16 in a row and 19 of 20.

Remarkable.
As Kuralt said 27 years ago “it is as it was meant to be…”

nothing better than defeating dook to gain a share of the ACC Regular Season Championship.

We earned the 1 seed on goal differential and play in the quarters on Tuesday At 10 AM on ACCN.

it is always nice to get the 8 seed opponent, but this will be a home game for Louisville. We may see dook again on Wed if teams advance according to seed.

Reese D’Ariano was in the stands last night.
Did she meet with players afterwards? EM?

After watching the game, I really hope to never see the bald ref again. Can’t believe I’m ‘missing’ the days of Ben Peters. I don’t think we’ve had Aayanna McLean this year? Maybe in the first couple games bs the big ten?

Hmmm… Zero post season awards for the Heels…

Wake beats the Heels for the first time since 2017, and get the near sweep with conference awards. They have had an impressive season for sure, but come on. Last game was lit up with 5 goals and finished 15-3 on the year.

Congrats to 1st teamers Heck and Bruder, and 2nd teamers Mendez, Bruning and Boere.

Heels will come out with a chip on their shoulder for sure.

I think Phume is great. But how is she freshman of the year when she’s not 1st or 2nd team (ahem, Boere)?

Wake improved so much YoY, and I definitely agree with Schoenbeck & Averill (although whether Schoenbeck is an offensive or defensive player is a reasonable question to ask).

I assume we’ll have a few international commits for 2026? Only 4 players coming in. Along with hitting the portal heavy.

I have one word for those people who voted. They are full of blank. They are all bias and their true colors are showing.

Boere is the Freshman of the Year to me and a clear defensive 1st teamer. And she runs the offense from the back line considerably well with her passing. She is our lead flyer on DPC and the floor general on APCs.

Mia Montag is a great player but I hate it when they award it to a supposed defender for how many goals and assists they have. she earned almost all of those points on APCs. It is defensive player of the year.

Here is the goals against average for the top ACC teams:
  1. UVA 0.9 goals per game
  2. dook 1.1
  3. UNC 1.1
  4. Wake 1.5
Yet Wake gets goalie of the year and defensive POY, plus two other midfielders (who have considerable defensive responsibilities) on the 1st team? Those other two Wake defenders must really stink. UVA's goalie (Lempers) lead the ACC in save percentage and goals against average by a wide margin. The Wake goalie had the most saves just because their defense allowed more shots than any other team in the conference. she was 4th in goals against average and 3rd in save percentage. What are we doing here?

UNC spread the wealth considerably this year so I get why Heck was not OPOY, even though she is still the best player in the conference.

UNC played the toughest schedule and is the #1 team in the country entering the post season. For the 3rd year in a row. She has a 28-2 ACC record over her 3 years with 3 regular season titles and 2 tournament titles so far. Matson is the logical choice for ACC Coach of the Year for the 3rd year in a row, but has only one award.

Good first half. Attacking a ton. Just need to get more in the net.

Not letting Louisville do anything really.

Is it me or do the announcers seem like they’re pulling for Louisville?

The announcers generally are a little encouraging to underdogs, looking for a good game. In this sport that always means it is to UNC’s detriment

Louisville mids playing rough all day. First slight bump from Heck and they give her a green card. Playing down for 2 min with 9 min left Q4

Feel like we played okay, controlled the whole game. Would have liked to connect more on the penalties. 19 shots vs 2 shots.

Louisville didn’t threaten much at all besides their lone goal, which came due to a defensive miscue that I haven’t seen all year. Won’t happen often.

I always get nervous playing these teams that haven’t beaten us in years at their house in key games. Spirit can take you far.

Louisville had 3 stick saves by defenders other than the GK at the goal line this game.

I think it's typical that in the Olympic sports that the home team provides the announcers and analysts. Happens every time in women's soccer but I didn't watch today's game.

This is true 90% of the time for content that appears on streaming and sometimes for lesser broadcasts that actually make the ACC network. But ESPN/ACCN sends staff to most revenue sport events and their game of the week style programming for Olympic Sports. And they always send one of their top national staff teams for ACC Championship broadcasts like this ACC Tournament.

We got Leah Secondo for play-by-play, who will do the NCAA final 4 event again this year, She has been doing it for over a decade now. She did not attend an ACC school but most on here think she seems to be tired of UNC dominance and has a tendency to pull a bit for the underdog. Just more in tone/excitement than anything she says, her analysis is usually spot on.

Suzanne Bush did color, Today I learned she went to Louisville (thx @TH123 ) and played there. But she is also a top FH commentator nationally, including the NBC broadcast of the Paris Olympics. I am sure the fact that she lives in Louisville and does not need a travel per diem made the decision for ESPN/ACCN a no brainer.

I think this pair will do every game in the tournament?

To be clear I have no problem with this duo. the alternative is often somebody who has only a basic understanding of field hockey, cannot identify penalties called, and does not provide any real insight.

Yeah I did notice the analysts today were able to speak in great detail about the game.

As someone who really just watches UNC field hockey and doesn’t really have any other connection to the sport, it was nice to learn.

They won't give the award to Erin. We all know that she should win coach of the year but they are not going to give it to her. How in the blank get WF has players get those awards.
