Couldn't happen to a more deserving school/football program.

While I agree, you gotta feel awful for those players. They did everything perfectly and would have had a chance at tying up the game and the refs blunder just absolutely ripped it away from them. I'm laugh @ UNCheat fans, but not the players :\

Ref right in front of the play called that and it was disgusting. Not even close
To being offsides and I will be curious to find out what happens to that referee. All penalties inside of two minutes should be reviewable. There should never be a game decided because of a referee making a bad judgement call that can't be reviewed.

Any play should be reviewable ... dumb, dumb rule.

Nothing will happen to the referee, it wasn't his call.

1st off, LOLZ @ UNCheat.....that said, that dude should be fired. Happened right in front of him and he threw the flag emphatically even though it wasn't remotely close. UNCheat still would have had a ton of work to do just to get it to OT, but damn.....that was an awful call by that guy.

LOL @ UNC-CHEATER HILL. That's all that matters, the cheaters got what they deserved. Their crooked athletic program doesn't deserve to be anywhere close to any national title.

I am LMAO at ESPN actually running on their bottom crawl that the referees made an offsides call and that no UNC players were actually offside. It is true, and it was an awful call, but it makes me laugh that the UNC-run ESPN went out of their way to point that out in their stats pack for the game, I can't recall them ever doing that for another game with a controversial call. I am really crying tears for UNC over here, lol.

I believe that would be because the higher powers at ESPN are UNC alums? Not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure. Damn they have it on the main page ROFL. Woooooooow. Not a word after the Wisconsin game last year after we lost and got shafted for 90% of that game.

The President of ESPN is a unc alum. President of ESPN and co-Chair of Disney Network. John Skipper.

Googled his net worth ... how do you make 5 mill a year but only be worth 15 mill? This dude either has no idea how to invest or has a spending problem.

Didn't catch that one, was it that bad?

I was referring to the 1980 Tulane/Kentucky football game, perhaps a bit before your time.

The people who think that offsides was the right call last night probably still think Ohio State has a legitimate claim on the 2002 national championship.

Really a bad call. Offside could be called in most games, Rarely ever called. we had 1 called this year.

The Kentucky-Tulane game has two pass interference calls back to back at the end of he game. I think the last one was after the clock had expired. of course, Tulane won the game on the untimed play.

Why you can't review an off-sides call on an on-side kick at the end of the game is insane. an on-sides kick never happens unless the game is close and the play is critical to the outcome. Replays can clearly be used to determine if the call is correct or not. Everybody watching, including the refs knew after the replay that it was a wrong call.

Wasn't his call? He made the call, so what do you mean? The guy threw his flag saying he saw someone offsides when video evidence clearly proves nobody was close to being offsides.

Being offsides isn't as judge mental as say a holding call that could be called any play on the line. Sometimes it can be really close but in this case it wasn't. It was black and white and this guy either just was overtaken by the moment or he lied/cheated....whatever you want to call it.

jauk being a former "official" like me is splitting hairs. The "referee" didn't make the call. It was the "line judge" or whatever.

Here's what REALLY upsets me. This is not like holding or pass interference, this is a very objective call, either you are offsides or you're not offsides. The video technology is available to correct a mistake (if that's what it was) like this.

These kids go through 2 a days, season practices, spend hundreds of hours in the weight room and film room, study, work, correct their mistakes, play and practice with pain, and make personal sacrifices. The coaches spend long hours studying film, developing their players, tweaking their schemes to put their players in the best position they can to win. They go 11-1 and are on the verge of a magical season and some bone-headed official that's either blind or a Clemson homer thinks he sees something that isn't even there, throws a flag and robs this team of everything they have worked and sacrificed for over the past year.

And we have the ability to correct this mistake but because the idiots that make these rules don't see fit to allow the reply official to over turn something this obvious, this team has to forever live with being screwed.

Absolutely disgusting.

No those are the elite. I listened to an interview around 10 yrs ago and this muliti billionaire said he paid no taxes. He was explaining how he does this through his accountants to park his money in various entities where the gov allows them too.

He said the rules were written to allow this. I remember him saying that you could be worth 20 billion but on paper you could show you made no money that year.

If it wasn't UNC it would be really bad,but since it was it was a great call, those cheating bastards deserve that call and 100 more just like it.Agree with the intent of your post but that is how I feel about that particular school.

I know the rich pay taxes , my grandfather is worth quite a bit, he pays a hefty amount every year.

my generally directed and cynical comment wasn't aimed at you, sir. But I can see how it may have been taken that way. Sorry 'bout that.

interesting discussion on the Gamecock board. unc may actually have been off-sides due to hand of unc player crossing vertical plane (line of scrimmage) prior to kicker making contact with ball?

I remember the Tulane game pass interference calls. Two PI calls got Tulane down the field close enough to kick a game winning field goal. To say Curci was livid is a gross understatement. I read afterward that the official who made the calls never called another game in the SEC.
