I was there Friday night, and it looked about the same as when it was free. We paid over $16 for a box of popcorn and a coke!

I just hope the money being generated will help the program out with NIL money, recruiting, etc.

She's coming. She reminds me of Mabrey S from last year. Her bounce off of the floor might be a little higher. She looks like she has a lot of power on her spikes too.

👀 Guess who's ranked?!?

UNC sneaks into the AVCA poll today at #25.

It is the first time UNC has been ranked during the regular season since Early in the 2017 season.
We were ranked last year the last couple of weeks of the season. We were ranked when we played FSU and Miami and until we lost to Penn State.

Came down with a fever and cold yesterday...really hoping it resolves itself in time for tomorrow!

Unfortunately it is COVID (Thankfully to this point I would describe it as an above average head cold, though my temperature has not stopped increasing over the last 36 hours so not out of the woods yet). Super bummed to miss this match. Give a few extra claps and cheers for me, and Go Heels!

My mistake, thank you. I looked it up in the media guide which did not include last years rankings.

First win vs a top 15 team in 5 years and it is a SWEEP winning all 3 sets decisively!

What are the practicalities (expense aside) of a temporary taraflex floor for volleyball? VB and WBB both use Carmichael, and the seasons overlap.
Someone on Volleytalk is claiming that we have a Teraflex floor ordered and had a problem that led to a delay but should be good to go by conference matches. This is the first I'm hearing of it, would be awesome if so.

throw in UNC gymnastics and wrestling at the same time as well.

I actually was curious on this recently and went down a rabbit hole.

Ore St shares their arena with other sports:

Installation vid for Ball St in their BBall gym:

Nebraska coach discussing his moveable floor:

Moving Nebraska's court.

UofW shares their arena with WBB and MBB, and only had one match in 2018 where they could not use their floor due to logistics.

The load in and out for the portable taraflex does not appear to me to be any more laborious than setting up the gymnastics apparatuses.

According to the Taraflex website there are now over 100 D1 universities that have a Taraflex home court (and a handful of lower divisions ones as well). This is now a norm for a P4 level team, not a splurge

In the ACC this includes:
  1. Clemson (2013)
  2. Notre Dame (2016)
  3. Georgia Tech (2017)
  4. Pitt (2018)
  5. Boston College (2021)
  6. Florida State (2022)
  7. Stanford (2024)
  8. Syracuse (2024)
  9. Virginia (2024)
  10. Louisville (2024)
  11. Wake Forest (2024)
...that is out of 18 volleyball teams

The late adopters
  1. SMU plays on hardwood, shares floor with MBB and WBB
  2. dook plays in Cameron, uses the wood floor.
  3. NCSU plays at Reynolds on a specialized temp floor, but not sure what it is. shares facility with WBB, wrestling and gymnastics like UNC does.
  4. VT plays in Cassel Colosseum on the MBB/WBB court
  5. Miami seems to have a dedicated volleyball arena, but no Taraflex floor.
  6. Cal plays volleyball on hardwood on a court they share with MBB and WBB (Haas)
  7. and...UNC
As you can see in the ACC list above, the adoption of Taraflex has increased at a very rapid pace the last few years, this is a national trend. UNC, frankly, is behind in this respect.

The only issue I can possibly see is the logistics of storing the floor when not in use and/or transporting it to the practice players can utilize it optimally. Is it useful if you team only sees it in game day? No clue if Carmichael/Woolen offer specific obstacles? Would we need to buy a second court for the practice gym?

This thread is pretty much all UofF fans, so posting for Schadenfreude only:
I thought we earned the win more that UF played poorly, but reading those comments sure sounded like Gators were a mess. The match could have gone a whole lot different at 23-all in the first set. Team has gotten mentally tougher; that's a set, and possibly match, that we drop in prior seasons.
