Schutter is ACC Defensive player of the Week. her 13 blocks vs national champ Pitt were 3rd most in program history.

Cozza is ACC Freshman of the Week following her 58 assist week-end, re-setting her personal best twice.

A couple of our top 2027 commits made a visit to the Hill for this week-ends matches. two top ten matches (assuming they stayed that long) plus Chapel Hill Halloween has to be one heck of a visit.

5'10" Marlie Smith is the #26 2027 recruit nationally and the 5th ranked setter

6'4" Dorothy Durrill is a 3 star middle blocker

I hope we had some other recruits there as well?

Our 3rd 2027 commit so far is 5'9" Kalia Kroth. #6 ranked player in her state (IL). She does not have any photos indicating she attended. She is an outside hitter on the prep level, but I have to assume she projects as a libero or serve specialist?

Thanks for the update. How about the girl from Nebraska. She has to be highly ranked. She is on the national list for volleyball player of the year for high school.

Addison West is ranked 59th. Anytime you can get a player in the top 100, you take it. For reference, Bridget Malone was ranked 172 and she's looking like a future star. Recruiting will continue to improve

my post above is in reference to the 2027 class.

We have three that I know of in the 2026 class:
  • #59 ranked 6-2 Addison West is an outside hitter from Omaha, NB
  • #139 ranked Carly Markham is a libero from Apex, NC
  • 6-4 Lindley Miller is a middle hitter from Cary, NC

Yeah, this is a tough stretch to have to play three power house teams in a row. This is a good thing IMO. This shows that our team is improving each year. We are starting to get better recruits now and our program is on the rise. Go Heels!

Stanford is a power house in volleyball. They are ranked number 5 for a reason. Also, we played them at Stanford. He is hard to beat Stanford at Stanford. They did not run out gas. They just got beat by a better team IMO. We will bounce back from this, watch film and learn from the mistakes that were made during this game. That is what good teams do. This program is on the rise. Go Heels!

Heels hold at #15 in the Coaches poll:

But plummet 9 spots to 41st in (NCAA) RPI:

Holding steady at #30 in KPI.

In terms of our 2 worst losses, K State has been rising, but UofSC has cratered: #103 in RPI. Sadly, UofSC's only quality win all year (besides beating us) was against Florida, a team we also played (beat) so it does not help us. They are an albatross.

It's unfortunate the ACC doesn't have more of a middle to upper middle class. Currently it's the four elite's, Miami, UNC and then an enormous cliff. Tough to build a resume when you're forced to notch wins against four top 10 teams...two of which are in the top 5.

OOC schedule could have been better, though it is hard to know when to start scheduling meaningful games during a rebuild.

UNC is actually still very alive for the ACC Championship. There is no ACC tourney and the ACC allows Co-Champions (tiebreakers are only used to select who gets the auto-bid to the NCAA, but that is moot because all of the top teams are going dancing)

We have to win out, then:
  • Stanford lose one of @ Cal, GT, @ ville
  • Ville lose one of @ GT, @ Clem, @Pitt, Stan
  • Pitt lose one of Cuse, BC, Ville, @ GT
Basically we need GT to upset one of these teams and the other two to fall once properly in head-to-heads between them

Scratch everything I posted about a path to the conference title, yikes.

fsu apparently had some key injuries early in the season and they are now healthy, but most of our star players were not on last night offensively.
