Question from someone who has not followed the program this year--are people viewing this season's results as an unlucky aberration, the potential start of a downward trend, or something in between? Seems like a lot of the losses were pretty close and to really good teams.

We got unlucky with a lot of people going pro, on the team and from the highschool class (Consequence of success). We’ve got a great recruiting class coming in, next season should be a better year.

UNC fans are always clueless on the history of the program.

Miami wasn't worse ever. We lost to William and Mary at home.

The 2021 team lost in 1st round of the NCAA tournament. They also didn't make the ACC tournament.

9 ACC teams, 8 seeded, 3 top seeds (Stanford, UVA, ND)
9 $EC, 7 seeded, 1 top seed (Vandy)
9 B1G, 6 seeded
8 XII, all seeded

P4 got 31 of the 34 at-large bids and 29 of 32 seeds.

Only seeded non P4s: Georgetown 2, Xavier 6, Memphis 7.

American football isn’t the only sport where the financial dominance of the P4 matters.

So I have until Friday @ 6pm for YTTV and Disney to work out this contract dispute.

Actually, I guess that's really a noon cutoff for the FH match.

UNC schedule site says it’s on ESPN+ so the dispute wouldn’t matter unless it gets flexed to SECN or ACCN

As it stands, I don't have access to any ESPN right now. But if they get it sorted, then I can stream + or watch it on demand.

the NCAA owns all NCAA tournament games broadcast rights, not the home team. ,They sell it to ESPN, and ESPN traditionally the last few years have put the games on ESPN+ instead of dividing any out to the SECN or ACCN platforms. I would expect that the FH, Wsoc and MSoc games to mostly be on ESPN+ up to the semifinals.

+ should be a completely separate membership FYI. But admittedly I haven't looked that closely
Yes, ESPN+ is separate from the streaming you have rights to by being a YTTV, Spectrum, Comcast, etc... customer with ACC Network. You have to buy a separate subscription.

ESPN does have a new product called ESPN Unlimited, which includes all ESPN content there is: ESPN+, ABC Sports, ESPN, ACCN, ACCNX, SECN, etc.. But it costs $30 a month so this is only for cable cutters who are not already paying for ESPN elsewhere.

No, I had full ESPN+ access (on their app) through my YTTV subscription, in addition to the channels on YTTV. With the dispute, we've lost all access to anything ESPN.

I also had a Disney plus bundle with Hulu and ESPN, but that turned out to be a EPSN product with far less content than ESPN+. I cancelled that when the dispute began, so now I don't have any access.

If they don't sort this by Friday, I'm going to cancel YTTV and pick up the Unlimited package.

Should be a really large 2026 class when everything settles:

*Note that 10 of the 21 player U-17 team were either already in college or on pro teams, and a few of others are HS juniors, so this is a really exclusive group: basically top 10 HS seniors.

4 star is the top level for Top Drawer

I believe Sealy Strawn is now a pro player, but her Wikipedia and personal SM account still says she is committed to UNC. It says she is on an academy contract which allows her to retain eligibility. Recently named USL Super League Young Player of the Year

edit: official announcements added as they come in. And a new recruit we did not know about: Wylie Roossein was anounced on 11/13. She committed publicly over a year ago, but her social are private and she has no Top Drawer profile, so probably just missed.

I believe it is 3rd currently, but I don't have any soccer recruiting subscriptions so it is had to tell when I keep hitting paywalls. I think ND is #1. Important to note that the name of the game in soccer recruiting is actually getting the player on campus before the pros swoop in, so those rankings are always a bit of a penciled in placeholder.

Robbie Church bought Kiernan Hall #1 recruiting class. He also inherited a final four roster.

Anson Dorrance left Damon with 12 players and said good luck. His best three recruits never went to college; his best players all went pro and half team transferred. He has spent two years cleaning up a pile of crap.

While embarrassing Church
It's funny, we lose 2 of 3 to duke last year, and they were pretty clearly better than us. We won the most important game, but I don't think we could have beaten them in a series.

In our regular season match against Wake, I felt like they out played us despite us getting the win. We were better during the championship game, but our margin for error last year was extremely tight.
