It's the revenge tour....and Iowa is squarely in the crosshairs.

Knowing Big Game Riley I think Wisconsin is at the top of that list. He's to much of a gentleman to say it but he knows how to get a team ready for a game like what's coming at Camp Randall.

We will find out a lot about the direction and standing of this team by the end of the OSU game - if we beat Indiana and are competitive against Wi and OSU I am encouraged

I think we're going to beat Indiana and a worn out Wisconsin team. With every week I'm feeling better about the Ohio State game. I was thinking of it as more of a dress rehearsal game but I'm kind of feeling really good about it. This Husker team has showed so much heart and determination it's probably going to come down to the fourth quarter and who makes the plays to win the game.

Wow. No. OSU will hang over 40 points on us without a doubt. Maybe 50

Remember the heart, determination and will Jim valvano's North Carolina State team had? This team is starting to remind me a lot of them. They just keep rising to the occasion and surprising people.

OSU is a very good team. My opinion is that their 2014 and 2015 teams were both better than this 2016 team, but each of those teams found a way to lose a game and found themselves in other games that were too close for comfort.

Maybe they blow the doors off Nebraska, maybe they don't. But history says they will have a stinker game or 2 per year where they don't play well.

If this team has such heart and determination, why don't they show any of that spunk in the first half? Why are we always in tight games against mediocre to bad teams until the fourth quarter? If we play like that against OSU I guarantee we go into halftime trailing 35-0.

I don't think red rover that you have a deep enough appreciation for how good OSU is.

I am not trying to trash our team. I like this group. I think we have a good chance of beating Wisconsin (although I think we lose there too).
But OSU is like a Nebraska 1995. They are really, really, really good

Reads to me like you are setting up the potential blowout, so if it happens you can say you were expecting it and if it doesn't then you can be glad it didn't. Classic expectation management syndrome

And then we'll fight in the second half to pull even and make it a one-possession game with 3 minutes left. You might very well beat this team but you're going to have to drive a stake in its heart to do it. This team's been through the fire and it's made them hard and strong.

Opponents so far Bowling Green, Tulsa, Rutgers and now 22nd ranked OU. As I said before, OSU is very good, but maybe we should let them win 9 or 10 before they are crowned the greatest ever.

There have been a countless number of teams over the past 20 years that were compared to the 1995 Husker team after 3-8 weeks of a season and NONE have lived up to that hype.

Let the season play out. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Riley has beaten better teams then Ohio State with far less talent at Oregon State.

OSU is good. You really shouldn't throw 1995 around unless they are in that stratosphere. Let's see how OSU does with NU and with Michigan first before we anoint them GOAT. We'll know at the end of the year.

Nice armchair psychoanalysis. Sadly you are wrong.

I hope we kick the living **** out of OSU. I hate OSU. And NOONE would be happier than I if we did.

But it is my opinion that OSU is going to kill us. If they don't... great!
And if you follow my posts then you know I never come on here to gloat when I am right about something. For example, I predicted before the season that Iowa would fade and that Wisconsin would be our chief rival in the West. I was quickly put in my place by wiser minds on here and told there was no way Wisky would contend for the West given their graduation losses and their schedule. Have I come on to gloat and say I was right? No. Well, except for now lol.

I agree that OSU is very good and could put up alot of points on our defense. But they are not in the same universe as the 95' Huskers. 1995 Nebraska was the greatest college football team in history, this OSU team might not be the best team in the country this year and might not be as good as the teams they had the past couple years.

Probably not. And so far OSU has played nobody. But neither have we. And at least OSU crushes these nobodies whereas we are in a dogfight with them until the fourth quarter.

And what is OSU going to do when they punch us in the mouth and we get back up and punch them back like nobody else is done. I know how we're going to react in a tough hard-fought knock-down drag-out game. What about OSU??? Look at last year's Michigan State game you might see a repeat this year with us.

Hope you are right rover. Big time.
But the better question is how do WE react, on the road in the horseshoe, if we get down 31-0 by half? I think the talent disparity between OSU and us is really large right now. They have speed and athleticism at every position. Determination and grit only take you so far.
The only way we win is if OSU brings its "C" game. And I grant you that even great teams can lay a turd now and then. But teams rarely do that against us. We always seem to get everyone's "A" game.

Bo Pelini isn't coaching the team anymore. And this fact can't be overstated!

Bob Devaney could not overcome the talent disparity - I agree with Penny the only way we win is OSU plays a stinker game and we get a lot of turnovers. There is nothing wrong with stating this and having realistic expectations for this team instead of blsting them and the staff if we get blown out

Who gloats on a message board? I don't even know you, why would I care if you guessed the outcome of a game correctly. Not a personal you but the impersonal you.

Anyway. It's not psycho-analysis, its fact. You in as much said so in your post. "I hope we kick the living **** out of Ohio State but my opinion is that Ohio State is going to kill us". It isn't about being right on a message board, it's simply a matter of managing expectations. The. You back that up with comments about this OSU team being on par with the 1995 Huskers, as a way to justify the blowout, if a blow out happens.

99% of the fans of Nebraska hope they win every game. Nothing earth shattering about that.

Nice armchair psychoanalysis. Sadly you are wrong.

I honestly don't know what's funnier...
Watching Iowa football circle around the toilet bowl?
or
Watching the Iowa fan realize how much money they gotta pay Captain Kirk just to leave?

Not even close, people on this board need to stop with the OSU kool aid, they are really good, but not even close to being an all time great team.

We're clearly not the 6th best team in the nation, even if we beat Indiana, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Still, it's a whole lot more fun to be having this discussion than the ones we've had in previous years about being ranked 6th in the Big 10 conference.

Congratulations to Riley and the rest of the coaching staff.

I wonder about Meyer - there have only been two teams where he has stuck around long enough to allow his recruited freshman to graduate - Florida basically melted down and last year I thought OSU seemed to have some problems between the ears - then of course many junior classmen left early. This year he again has a young team that is playing better - makes you wonder if there are in fact kinks in the Meyer armor

The story has always been about Meyer and his coaching style being hard on him. But in truth I think it's the program that implodes. The difference is Meyer knows when to exit stage left.

Well...He left BGSU for Utah (Step up) and Utah for UF (Step up) so those make sense...Then he sort of retired/quit...that one is weird...but he got another promotion to OSU. So, this is just a guess, OSU is his last job.
