Is there a more obnoxious group?

I'm a season ticket holder, and been to a lot of losing games where the opposing fans at least have a modicum of respect as they exit the stadium. Auburn had a crap ton of fans at their game against us and they were very respectful and left peacefully. Not the noisy, in your face nastiness of a display the UofL fans put on. I heard that damn C-A-R-D-S bull ish yelled enough to make my stomach turn. I get its a rivalry and all, but damn they were obnoxious.

Then I get out to my truck and actually got quite a laugh. I walked past a Ford Focus full of white linebeards with their flat bills on crooked, blaring some thug rap music yelling L1C4 and holding up their cute little finger "L's" while they pulled out of the parking lot. I looked at them and yelled "You're just perpetuating the stereotype!" I don't know, maybe the words were too big for them to comprehend or something because they just gave a stupid look and went on their merry way continuing to look foolish.

You told them. In all seriousness, we need to beat them and this wouldn't happen. 5 years they have owned us and I'm about sick of it.

Don't mind those idiots or the trolls, OP. They were 7-5 in a year where they were talking about being a dark horse for the playoffs.

I like to beat uofl but no more than any other team unless they are good. Beating uofl this year would have been a step above beating vandy, in other words nothing to brag about. Let them have their fun, they beat a horribly coached team, big whoppee de do... Both teams suck, we just suck more, at least on the sidelines.

Ive been to a lot of games and fans celebrating and throwing up their teams cheers is about par for the course even in defeat. Now had they thrown stuff at you or touched you thats a different story. I was poking fun at the OP because this comes off as something my grandkids would tattle to their elders on each other about. To the victor go the spoils. If we dont like it Id suggest we start taking this as serious as they do and do something about it. Anyone who thinks fans will leave quietly in a single file line in this rivalry and is appalled when it doesnt happen isnt cut out for a rivalry of any type. In a nutshell this is petty and comes off as a major case of sour grapes.

Funny thing is that I had two really nice young guys behind me. We talked football the entire game. This is a first. I will never step foot in
Pappa John's again, it was all I could do to get out alive a few years ago. It's all in who you sit by. These two were sober and it made all the difference in the world.

I got in the stadium as the gates opened and found a resting spot under the suites in the UofL section. (Thought those were k fund seats). And was gonna hang out out till closer to kick off and stay dry. When I left 25 minutes to kickoff I really liked all the UofL fans I talked to. (Most were older, who claimed to have suite level season tickets to both fball and basketball). One offered me seats to stay there and dry cause he had two extras. Didn't want to be surrounded by red, so went to my seats but had a good time talking to those around me.

That was a game between a terrible football team and a bad team. Winning it is about equal to being voted the tallest midget. Congrats on that, I think.

Regarding UL fandom, it's got to be tough to be second fiddle in the state regardless of success. Add that to the fact that deep down, they know they root for a cesspool of a university - coaches that are despicable human beings, a president that uses endowment money as his personal slush fund, suspect characters allowed to transfer after being kicked out of other places, dead cheerleaders in football player apartments, hookers, an under the table junk-bond arena deal that will cost taxpayers millions, etc.

I guess they need something to feel good about because they are an embarrassment to the state of Kentucky.

Get off my lawn!
I have to agree.
I think opposing fans have every right to celebrate and rub it in when they win on the road.
I guarantee, that our fans have acted the same, and in the unlikely event that we should
ever win another road game, you'll hear the CATS cheer and Go Big Blue as they exit the
stadium.
It's an easy fix, however. All we have to do is win a freaking ball game and the opposing
fans will have nothing to cheer about...

UofL fan here. I took my 9 year old to the game which, honestly, I was a bit nervous about - just the fact that it's a heated rivalry and alcohol can flow freely at college football games. Other than some good natured ribbing, we had no issues at all. I actually had some good conversations with UK fans around us who knew some of my work colleagues.

And UofL fans during the game? Doing the CARDS chant as our player is down getting medical attention, and at halftime both bands are joined together playing My Old KY Home, everybody is standing except the Da Ville fans sitting on their arses.

My seats this year were pretty much always adjacent to visiting team fans for most games. UL-L was the only exception (I was out of the country for the Tennessee game, and I didnt come to Charlotte)

That being said, the most obnoxious fans in our section were UK fans, at least early in the game. I didnt stick around long enough to see if the U of L folks were getting obnoxious late, but I wouldnt have blamed them one bit if they did.

I was curious if it was a UK-UL fan thing or if it was just a drunk thing. Does anyone know if they were UL fans that the guy pistol whipped?

Not been a lot of solid reporting on it, but the only thing I've seen pointing one way or another was a WKYT reporters twitter directly as it happened that said they were "both" UK fans (This is when they were still reporting one attacker and one victim, not two). The few photos I've seen don't have any red in them if that's any indication. The mug shot shows him pretty red faced and a little dead in the eyes. Not destroyed or anything but I bet he blew a .1

Thanks. I have been to CWS many times in red and have never had any problems. Not exactly a warm welcome, but it is a rivalry. I had a hard time believing it was a UL/UK thing.

I really hate when they pistol whip people after the game. Oh wait, that was one of ours. Our team needs to clean house before they worry about L'ville on the field. Our fans need to clean house before we worry about L'ville fans off the field.

Speaking of that ... I have been wondering this since I saw that report ...

where is jauk11?

Almost certainly just a coincidence, and he's just taking a break from the board after a bitter loss. But his absence begs the question...!

My son texted me that during the game there was a UL fan sitting in front of him with a swastika tattoo on his forearm.

NO CLUE. I've had him on IGNORE for the best part of a year. I trust he's STILL running around THESE boards though, ABUSING the hell out of his CAPS LOCK key for no reason, STILL not understanding how FOOTBALL recruiting, RANKINGS, coaching or PLAY works. BUT HE WAS a ref ONCE.

I've been to almost all the games in both stadiums. Only problems I ever encountered were in 2007. That year was pretty bad, but it was still just a few select nut-jobs that give the school a bad name. We all have them.

For the most part, things have been fine around me at both venues, and limited to only a little good-natured ribbing. Some can't take that, but if you're a visitor, you should expect a little, although I think most probably experience none. I think if you ignore it altogether, it goes away fairly quickly. Even the nut-jobs don't want to harass anyone who ignores them.

I had a good experience at CWS. All UK fans were nice to me (Can't recall the last time that happened). Had great conversations with the folks around me even as the game shifted in UofL's favor.

I liked the stadium upgrades. Wish PJCS had a concourse as wide as CWS now has, not to mention the upgraded restrooms. The big screens in the end zones are top notch too.

I mean what do you expect from such a savage bunch? Anyways, and I hate to say it, they had every right to gloat and get hyper. We BLEW a 21-0 lead and let them score 31 straight. That is outright pathetic.

The funniest thing I saw Saturday was while I was walking on the lower concourse, I saw a group of 3-4 U of L fans taking turns taking pics of each other next to a UK logo, alternating between "throwing up their Ls" and throwing up a middle finger with the logo (I am guessing they were trying to flip off the logo?). To each their own, but if I am going to PJCS or YUM!, I am not seeking out a U of L logo so I can flip it off.

Of course not. The truth of the matter is that just about every time, the fanbases are exactly the same type of people since they usually live in close proximity and thus similar environments. The only difference is the color shirt they wear.

WVU fans never claim their rival's fans base is obnoxious. Their rivals know not to got Morgantown because Mountaineers are horrible to everyone.
