Kratz and Public Enemy, I have seen your posts on the Louisville board, and was not shocked by the responses.
Typical moral relativism in response to your concerns from a fan base/media under the remarkable spell of Tom J.
Kratz, I was surprised one poster (BPGhost) told you that the scandal(s) did not reflect upon you personally, after you used the personal pronouns "we" and "us" with regard to the scandals and the attention the stories were getting in the national media. Perhaps that is a normal response to this kind of stress . . . . when "my" program is winning, "we" have achieved much as a sports program and University. When scandals hit, "my" or "our" program, for too many, the "us" and the "we" turns into the "they" and "them." Fanatics can hide behind assumed screen names and simply not wear the colors until the heat blows over.
I suspect the worst of this scandal is the Jurich response. He simply rubs the noses of anyone offended by actual cheating into his "disappointment" that his program has been "distracted." A bizarre response begging for the National Media attention he is receiving, and likely leading to his professional demise.
And U of L folks, I AM NO FAN OF U OF L, as anyone of you who has read my posts before, knows. But let me tell you that 10 years ago, administrators of a UK site called me "in on the carpet" for my simple honest appraisal of UK Basketball in the 1980's when I was at UK Law School. I described some of the goings on then "as close to actual organized crime, as I have personally seen." I call a spade a spade, and given my fansship of UK, I didn't/don't like shady BS affecting "my" University.
On this board in the past I have rhetorically asked U of L fans in the long-past "what will it take . . . . killings/shootings," before the crap comes to an end. Obviously, this is an awkward moment to bring those phrases back up, as the recent shootings have occurred.
Kratz, you have expressed reluctance on this and the Card forum to impose your personal morality upon others. But it is your personal moral sense of justice and fairness that has led you to call Tom J., and the programs into question. If none of us can use these tools to effectively guide ourselves and the things we love, then we are in DEEP trouble.
Someone, above, or on another thread (even perhaps on the Cards Forum) has stated their opinion that "Jurich is on a short leash." Really? Who holds the other end? Local media (the tail has wagged that dog for YEARS): the Board (who is the Board, now?). Seriously, I do not know . . . . is there any entity at U. of L. currently with all the political and other stuff going on in a secure enough position to act as a limit on Jurich?
