He thinks he is #1 running back to come out of MS. Top 10, sure, #1, def not.

If he hadn't got mixed up in wrong crowd, ate alot of food, and smoked dope, and ate alot of food, do you think he would have "made it" in the NFL? To me, if he hadn't got mixed up here, he would have stumbled there instead.

He was a good RB, but based on what I saw, by far the best player on that Clinton team was Clarence McDougal.

Nevermind flame outs, prison-time, etc....just based on cold hard facts, when they played, they dominated for at least several years and were born & raised in MS. Please bring up ones I am forgetting.

1. Peyton
2. Dupree
3. Winder
4. Norwood
5. Dulymus Jenod "Deuce"
6. Dixon
7. Miller
8. Darden
9. Davis
10. 'Tae

I would have to have David Fair on there somewhere. Still not sure he's not the most talented back we've ever signed. A shame that he was injured so early in his college career.

I gotta plug a guy I went to high school with for that list. Ronnie Ducksworth was defintely somewhere on the top 10 list of HS running backs in Mississippi. The only coach who coached against both Duck and Dupree said that Duck was the better back. I saw them both play (Dupree just on TV) and I wouldn't go that far but Duck was damn good. I'd also put David Fair on the list somewhere.

the plays so the story goes theyput different colored wrist bands on each arm......They would simply tell himthe color and that's the direction he was supposed to run to.........

If I'm not mistaken he was killed a few years back........ I'm thinking he was killed robbing a liquor store in Denver but don't quote me on that..........

For obvious reasons in HS. But even before he got to State, he had a pretty rough reputation. And you can read that interview today, with all the 3rd person stuff, the "I'm the best ever", blame the crowd I was hangin' with .... Still wish him the best and hope he makes the most of his 2nd chance. Also, I never remember hearing that he was released. I assumed the interview was done in prison.

Give me McDougal or Hodge any day when it comes to Clinton boys. I'm not sure they played with Walker. Maybe for a year, as McDougal was c/o 2001, Dontae c/o 1998, I think.

FYI, here's the link to the story: http://blogs.clarionledge...y-dontae-walker-clinton/

But I can tell you for a fact he would sometimes ask the QB coming out of the huddle which way was right and which was left. The QB said, just follow the FB. He was literally retarded. He never even had a prayer of playing college football even back before there was such a thing as Prop 48. Went to Tyler TX JUCO and made All-American there his FR year, then wound up at a JUCO in Montana where he was shot by a police officer. Before he died, he got the gun away fromthe policemanand shot him and they both died. Still pissed at him about that.

his TD plays averaged 39yds. In other words, he wasn't scoring on dive plays from the 1.

RW: What do you want people to remember about you?
DW: I never gave up and that I was one of the best running backs to ever come through Mississippi. The other thing is that Dontae Walker made the wrong choice in his life because he was hanging with the wrong crowd. But I take ownership of those mistakes.

But Tae, you did give up. You walked off the F'n sideline on Senior Day. We booed your fat *** because it was obvious that you were going through the motions. If you would have said, "Aight, Dontae gone show 'em. Watch this" and cracked some skulls for the rest of the game, that would have been "never giving up." I don't remember you for never giving up, I remember you for being a selfish ****.

I got to see Noah Ingram (Ruleville Central) play a couple times. He lived next door to a friend of mine in Blaine, MS. Good dude too.
He was a lot like Vick Ballard. Not the biggest, quickest or fastest, but damn near it in allcategories. It was cool to see him rush for 300 yds week after week.

Even thought he played against bad teams, I still think he was D1 talent.

McDougal would have been one of the best players we've ever had if he hadn't torn his knee up. I remember at the Madison Central - Clinton game their SR season, you had at least 8 current or future Dandy Dozen players on the field (including several future NFL players) and McDougal was like a man among boys.

Wasn't Hodge the one who got arrested during his SR season for statutory rape of his girlfriend? I remember thinking at the time that if it had happened a year earlier, it wouldn't have been a crime because they'd both be underage and if it had happened a year later it wouldn't have been a crime because they'd both be of age. But because it happened this year, it's a crime. Something's 17ed up about that.

I'm not positive what year it happened, maybe 2001? But it was indeed some BS.

Hodge broke his leg in a game against Indianola-Gentry (and Michael Spulock) in 2000. Looking back at some archives, it looks like he reported to MSU in 2001, but had some complications with nerve damage in the leg and never made it onto the field.

but I remember one Friday night when I was a kid getting in the car with my dad and he turned on the radio to the Laurel-Pascagoula game. It was halftime and the announcer said that Pascagoula didn't have any first downs but Rooster Jones had over 200 total yards and Pascagoula was up 28-0.

Led by QB Teddy Dibiase. (Think he played WR in championship game).

I still remember Demarius Bilbo shredding Clinton. He would score then stay on the field to toe ball the xtra point. What ever happened with that guy?

It was a depressing end to a great season. And yes, Dibiase was QB, but moved out to receiver at some point in favor of Mike Cashion (who went on to play baseball at USM).

Bilbo went on to Georgia Tech, but don't remember hearing much out of him in the NFL.

back when you hit the hole was just some new style of running the ball that didn't catch on.

held the MS highschool single season rushing record at one point.......I think the rushed for 2600+ yards and that was with him not playing in the second half of a lot of games because Amory had such huge leads.......

Joe Carter put up some pretty good #s @ Starkville High in the late 70s. Went on to play at Alabama & Miami Dolphins.

He was pretty much a non-factor after he left Moss Point. Actually a quick Google shows he did play some QB his first 2 years there and had a decent season as a WR his SR season.

He was one of the best high school players I have ever seen.

Wasn't Mario King a LB for Clinton?

Those games against MC/Clinton were pretty epic. Also, Dontae said that his uncle played for MC- I think that was Bobo Brown for some reason?

Played him in South State Chmpship in '81 @ Newell Field in Jackson. Big fast & punishing. Beat him & West Jones but awesome game.

South Natchez had a hell of a team. After that game, we tried running some Notre Dame box offense off and on for the next few years. Didn't work quite as well for us as it did for y'all though.

regardless of postion that was more talented than marcus. for my money he was probably the best ever as far as pure talent. its a shame he got hurt. i think he'd have made everybody outside alabama forget bo jackson.
