I’ll give Dave Lenti most of the credit for today, not Frank. He’s a defense genius and in my opinion the main reason we’ve had the success we’ve had over the years, and most true MC fans will agree with that.Congrats to coach LENTI, he deserves most of the credit for this win, he built the team ,even though he was lynched by the mount Carmel high school administration.
I watched it on The U, they actually had a great side view, he didn’t make it, missed it by a quarter of a yard, definitely didn’t break it. Initial angle from behind looked like he got in, but right call was madeLooked like a tremendous game, obviously down to the final play. Can anyone that was there, who may have possibly had a vantage point comment on whether that ball may have broken the plane? Watched the final play on replay and was looking at the reaction of the Loyola offensive linemen. Either way, great game by two great programs.
Photographic Evidence!
Congrats to coach LENTI, he deserves most of the credit for this win, he built the team ,even though he was lynched by the mount Carmel high school administration.
Was the QB under center during short yardage situations? Just asking bc it has bothered me as the spread/RPO took over pro sets to continually see offenses willingly give up 3-4 yards in short yardage situationsCongrats to the Caravan. They outplayed and outcoached LA.
Ramblers did not look sharp and shot themselves in the foot on several occasions. Need to do much better in short yardage situations.
Hmmmmm so now John Holecek got out coached... we all live on the fickle finger of fate.
I’m still marveling at this. A game-deciding goal line stand has now allowed Jordan Lynch to surpass John holecek as the next great CCL coach.
Loyola was outcoached in that game. They were also outplayed.
I said nothing about Lynch surpassing Holecek as the next great CCL coach. You did, though. Why? You're not selling papers here.
Newt, you have a team that was HEAVILY favored, playing at home. If they lose, yes, it is probable that they were out coached in that game. I don’t think anyone said Lynch was a better coach overall. What paper am I selling? And I was referring to PC Dads comment not yours. Your team loses on a goal line stand on the final play of the game and you got outcoached? Wow

Whatever happened to someone getting out played? Do the coaches lose the game because they were outcoached?
No, LA scoring/not scoring on the goal line doesn’t define the game in terms of someone being out coached. Lynch would have been out coached because he gave up an 11 point lead with 2 minutes to play.Whatever happened to someone getting out played? Do the coaches lose the game because they were outcoached?
How is he outcoached when they get stopped at the goal line? If Loyola scores does that mean Lynch got outcoached?
Mr. Lynch was HANDED a Mercedes Benz not a ford, judge him after 30 years not 2 WEEKS !!!I’m still marveling at this. A game-deciding goal line stand has now allowed Jordan Lynch to surpass John holecek as the next great CCL coach.
Someone must have spiked my Diet Mountain Dew this morning.
I like a good upset - wish I could enjoy this one - Leroy Brown gets beat by The Brown.
But this upset will give a handful of people the ability to smugly smile and allow them to say more confidently, “we did the right thing.”
Possibly. If it isn't that, then those decisions really become a headscratcher.Possibly a problem with the place kicker or holder or long snapper?
I was referring to PC Dads comment not yours.
I'm going to jump in here.....I never do this, and probably will regret it immediately, but I don't see how you jump to the conclusion that Holecek et al. got outcoached based on those in-game decisions. The decision to go for it on 4th down early in the game rather than take the easy 3 points...easy to criticize the decision now knowing the outcome but at the time it seemed like the right call, get up by two scores early against a predominantly run first opponent who doesn't play well from behind? Seems right to me.....it didn't work out, but that's the breaks. The decision to go for 2 the first time....remember they were on the 1.5 yard line, you can argue both sides of that but to put that decision into the "outcoached" column seems like a stretch. And finally, the decision to go for 2 late in the game was absolutely the right call. LA was down by 5 with 3 mins to play as I recall, putting 2 on the board means a field goal ties it, while putting 1 on the board doesn't help you at all. Absolutely this was the right call. LA didn't play their best game, kept giving the ball back to MC, and MC did what they had to do to win, so let's just tip our cap to them and move on....Twice I said they were outplayed. I also believe they were outcoached.
You seem to be arguing that simply because they were stopped at the goal line on the last play of the game that they therefore weren't outcoached. Were there no coaching decisions made in the previous 47 minutes and 57 seconds?
Would you have taken the easy FG early in the game or gone for it on 4th and goal? They went for it and came up short. Would you have gone for the 2 pt conversion twice when it wasnt necessary? They went for it and failed both times. There are five easy points right there. You are deluding yourself if you think those points and those coaching decisions don't matter. If they had taken the easy pts earlier, the game would have been tied at 17, and they wouldnt have needed to go for the TD on the last play of the game. It would have been a chip shot FG attempt for the win.
When a coach does things that don’t “work out”, they are out coached. The fact is that they were the heavily favored team, playing at home, and they lost. If this isn’t outcoached, then coaches don’t matter or effect the game in the least. I am not basing it on one play or even ten plays. I base it on 48 minutes.I'm going to jump in here.....I never do this, and probably will regret it immediately, but I don't see how you jump to the conclusion that Holecek et al. got outcoached based on those in-game decisions. Gents, had a funny feeling I’d get a reaction from my post. I should have been clearer. Never said Holechek was outcoached. Just stated my opinion that of the coaches in the CCL (specifically referenced the Blue) that Jordan has deeper, higher levels of football intelligence, knowledge and experiences beyond high school football. As stated I’m not taking anything away from the great high school coaches we have in IL but John and Jordan have NFL type training and experience so they should have a leg up on those that don’t. Grant it you still need players who understand the game, schemes, etc. Glenn Kozlowski did ok at North Chicago but did not have the players like the MCs and LAs of the world.I don't see where PC Dad said anything about LA being outcoached. Pretty sure I am the first one to bring that up in this thread.

Was it me or did this LA not look like recent LA teams? Over reliance on 1 WR, lack of a running game from the RB and QB spot, defense getting run on? I only watched the 2nd half so perhaps I missed something.
