Beef replacement heifers increased by roughly 100,000 to 200,000 head, indicating that ranchers are starting to hold back females for breeding rather than sending them to market.

so on one hand we complain that beef prices are too high..on other hand, we complain when a step is taken to reduce beef prices...makes sense

It’s all very nice that there’s more beef supply in the pipeline, but alpha gal may take care of that in the long term. Ordinarily I’d blame that on the Chinese, like most modern us plagues, but this one is borne mostly by the lone star tick.
