Going out Friday and going to Saturday's round. Should be a good time. Just saw a video that Justin Thomas posted about the roughs and green speed. I can't see anything under par winning this tournament.

Hopefully they got a better team to cover it. Shew, that was shaky start for them.

Is that^^^ the primary rough or secondary? No way the primary is that deep.

They've been hyping the improvements, obviously they heard all the criticism. Guess we'll see...

Marginal COMPLETE coverage, still >>>>>>>>>>> 2 hours & 5 holes or whatever ******** the Masters is up to these days.

I'd love to see Kuchar get a major. Dude was staying on the floor above us at the Embassy Suites in CBus. I blame the stench from our room on his Sunday Rd.

Going with Henrik Stenson.

Top 10 in driving accuracy and GIR. Putting may be an issue with him, but with the rough the way it is and the speed of the greens, you have to set yourself up for makeable pars and steal some birdies.

Tough one to pick. Want to go with the accurate tee box guys, but then I want to go with the best putters like Speith, Day, etc. Stenson would be a good pick because of his length and more important accuracy off the tee box, but putting is an issue. Kuchar's stats off the tee box and putting will put him in the mix.

My pick will be Day. Just playing the best right now. Best putter in the world right now (statistically). Be interesting to see if he can stay in the fairways. Even if not, he has the power to get out of those roughs.

MWes11, I will be there on Saturday too. I went the last time it was at Oakmont (2007 I believe). Heading over from Baltimore on Friday to play golf, then to the tournament on Saturday. Should be a good weekend.

Cabrera won shooting +5 in 07 at Oakmont. I'd expect something relatively similar this time around unless someone runs away with it.

I love when pro golfers ***** about the course. I'm cheering for a comfortably over par winner. As long as it's hard and not tricked up, bring it on.

After last year at Chambers Bay, would love DJ to win, after his final round yesterday, who knows, maybe he can.

Non American - going with Justin Rose.

You enjoy rooting for the biggest pricks in golf, or you actually think one of those two are going to win?

Wow, they cut down somewhere between 4-8,000 trees in the past decade to make the course look like its original form. They did it in the middle of the night so people wouldn't notice. Seems pretty extreme to me.

Listened to the No Laying Up podcast this weekend and Shane Bacon (handling the Fox interviews for the US Open) said he thought +4 would win outright.
Par is such a bogus number. If you want a minus number for the winner, just add a stroke to par for two of the hardest holes. End of story.

I am pulling for Phil because I love him, but I wouldn't mind seeing DJ win. Getting off the tee with accuracy will be huge. Zach Johnson comes to mind as well.

It's almost unbelievable that +5 was the winning score here back in '07. Should be a great weekend of golf! Just for the hell of it I'll take Sergio to finally win his 1st major.

That story on "Live from" was awesome. Amazing.

Also this is my favorite tv, Live from @ Majors is just phenomenal.

Lol is this real?
Yes, I hit a stinging low bullet with my 2-iron, ala Eldrick in his heyday, that runs for days. Or did you mean have a par 3 that long?

Live from is must see TV, sometimes I watch it twice.

Phil is already crying about it being dangerous for the health of the players. Lol.

If the greens are truly that fast, then you will encounter many good shots into the green being penalized instead of rewarded. You also eliminate the true putting stroke being taken away. There is a difference between fast (Augusta) and stupid. It will be interesting to see how the scores are heading into the w/e and if the USGA decides to put their thumbprint on the course even more.

So Oakmont keeps their greens rolling a 14 on a daily basis for their members.

I don't mind a good hard test for the US Open but when the top 50 players or so in the world can't break par then course is too tricked up.

I don't mind the heavy rough, don't hit it in the fairway then you are SOL. Shut up and hit it straight. But if players end up having a hard time holding that green with short irons and wedges from the fairway then that's on the USGA and Oakmont. If a 1/2 inch takeaway on a putt sends a ball 15 feet past the whole they have a legitimate gripe.

I love the emphasis on accuracy and shotmaking but make sure your properly reward those who can do it.

Not a damned clue who is gonna win. It's a crapshoot. I'll take the field versus the Big Three though.
