Remember dems have routinely outspent Republicans 4 to 1 or more.
It probably had a little to do with it. Joe do you think the donor recipient consultant class in dc actually gets in the position they’re in. But not 70 million worthYeah this didn't have a damn thing to do with it weirdo. Donors raised a billion dollars for them last year and then they lost the Presidency, the Senate and the House and now they seem rudderless with no plan for how to address Trump's authoritarian takeover. Who wants to donate to them now when they aren't even discussing a change in leadership, strategy, or policies?
It was ALL a lie. The real reason USAID was in Africa
Former African Union Ambassador to the United States, Arikana Chihombori-Quao:
“They're using that open access, sounding humanitarian, to constantly destabilize governments”
“We need to understand the real reason why USAID is in Africa, and not just USAID, but other NGOs They are coming in claiming that they're introducing grassroots initiatives that are going to help the people, and so they use that as a way to go into the most remote parts of Africa. When you look at it on paper, it all looks really good, but they're actually wolf in sheep's clothing.”
“The American taxpayer needs to know the billions of dollars that are being given to USAID. A fraction is making it to the people”
“They're using that open access sounding humanitarian to constantly destabilize governments. I can tell you right now, the majority of African leaders, and not just African leaders, but leaders in the developing world are celebrating the exit of USAID.
If you think about it, their sole purpose, for example, filling in the gaps in healthcare and education, where is the change? Show me one country that USAID was in and education improved. Show me what country where USAID was in and healthcare improved?”
They laundered our money
This isn’t even a conspiracy theory, there are offices White House reports showing the money being sent over “never made it to ground level”
Meaning it’s all stolen before it gets to the people it’s meant to help
isn't this what folks like TG, scrubby, fatpiggy have been posting? rudderless, no plan, just attack trump...Yeah this didn't have a damn thing to do with it weirdo. CORRUPTION!
yet, these days, who knows if this report is accurateCORRUPTION!
so, I don't discount the models analysis...what data you input determines the output. But couple of things...the models in 1990 predicted that Miami would be under water, and that all the ice in the Arctic would be gone by now....so placing total emphasis on models might not be the best correlation."Models tracking the mortality impact of USAID funding cuts estimate that between 500,000 and 750,000 people have died across Africa since the agency's shutdown. These avoidable deaths—primarily driven by the cessation of HIV/AIDS therapies, malaria prevention, and malnutrition treatments—disproportionately affect children and adults in Sub-Saharan Africa."
- One year after the Trump administration began its dismantling of USAID, a model that tracks the impact of USAID funding cuts on global disease prevention programs estimates that more than 762,000 people have died as a result of those cuts, including more than 500,000 children. According to ImpactCounter, a project built to model the effect on morbidity and mortality from the 90-day USAID funding pause announced on January 20, 2025, cuts to funding for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) have had the largest impact, resulting in more than 158,000 adult deaths and 16,000 child deaths. Terminated USAID funding has also resulted in more than 164,000 additional child deaths from pneumonia, 125,000 additional child deaths from diarrhea, 70,000 additional adult and child deaths from malaria, and 48,000 additional adult and child deaths from tuberculosis.

You do realize you're responding to a post from over a year ago, right? And you're missing the salient point by turning it into an argument I wasn't making. I was specifically talking about how they didn't stop him from winning and enacting Project 2025.isn't this what folks like TG, scrubby, fatpiggy have been posting? rudderless, no plan, just attack trump...
yet some on the left post the statements of the rudderless, no plan leaders of the party as if their words are gospel. Most Americans are looking for some type of Democrat platform that lays out plans for affordability, immigration, taxes, debts, etc, but all we get are anti trump, impeachment promises.
But let me ask you this, if the Dems did put out any plans, do you think you would have heard about them? And if you did hear about them, we all know you would be making a counter-point to oppose them because solutions aren't easy and they require pain for others that you would likely oppose.they seem rudderless with no plan for how to address Trump's authoritarian takeover.
| Proposal / Sponsor | Core Mechanism | Target Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Sen. Cory Booker | Double the standard deduction for married couples to $75,000. | Substantial tax relief for working families. |
| Sen. Chris Van Hollen | Eliminate federal income tax entirely on income up to $46,000 (individual) or $92,000 (joint). | Eliminates income tax for lower-to-middle income brackets. |
| Sens. Bernie Sanders & Rep. Ro Khanna | Implement a 5% annual federal wealth tax on billionaires. | Offsets the costs of progressive affordability programs. |
| DNC Party Platform | Raise the corporate tax rate to 28% while strictly legally protecting anyone making under $400,000 from tax increases. | Forces large corporations and high earners to pay more. |
you might be surprised at what I would support. Here's a problem with your "tax relief and reform" paragraph...so what's the Democrat position? double standard deduction, eliminate taxes on up to 46000 income or the other 2???You do realize you're responding to a post from over a year ago, right? And you're missing the salient point by turning it into an argument I wasn't making. I was specifically talking about how they didn't stop him from winning and enacting Project 2025.

2. Tax Relief and Reforms
Democratic tax proposals for the midterms aim to shield middle- and lower-income families while shifting the tax burden to corporations and high earners: [1, 2]

The world is healing now that we aren’t funding its downfall by imposing liberal policies and values all over it. I saw a report yesterday that the Biden administration DOUBLED USAID funds to Brazil the week after Bolsanaro won to essentially propagandize the populace. It’s being exposed as we speak. Literally everything those idiots lie about is coming true, and right before midterms. They’re gonna get smoked everywhere.
Oh sure,The aid given to Brazil was mainly directed at conservation efforts in the Amazon rainforest, in other regions it was used for food insecurity, fire prevention, implementing the peace agreement with FARC and the eradication of coca by funding alternative crops like coffee and cocoa, hardly what could be seen as propping up leftist governments and in no way did it harm them. It just happened to coincide with a far-right wave across the region that was already taking place due to post-pandemic inflation and sluggish economic growth.
But that doesn't mean a slide to the right means everything is coming up roses as Milei is as unpopular as Trump in Argentina and for the record, Bolsanaro came out slightly ahead of Lula in Brazil but didn't get a 50% majority so he and Lula will be heading to a runoff on Oct. 25th where Lula could easily take the lead if he can pick up most of the votes that went to the other 10 candidates. TBD.
