UTEP is a much better geographic fit for the MWC than it is for CUSA so the move makes sense. Besides, the MWC needed an eighth member, so everybody wins. I wouldn't be surprised if New Mexico St. eventually moves to the MWC. Drive time from El Paso to Las Cruces is less than an hour. Without UTEP they're sort of on their own geographically. Joining up with New Mexico and UTEP would make a nice rivalry trio.

There actually was a former PSU soccer player who played in the Bundesliga for a minute. Ricardo Villar. The team was Unterhaching and it was during the last couple years of Barry Gorman's time at PSU before he went to FC Dallas.
