Like that lineup a lot but would like a defensive force/bruiser at C
if we get one, that probably means Garrison will play a lot at the 4, which is fine.

Right now, I see a rotation at the 4 and 5 of Garrison, Moreno, and Folgueiras with Williams getting some minutes at the 4.

Folgueiras replacing Carr, Garrison replacing Amari Williams, and Moreno replacing Garrison, with Kam Williams replacing Almonor.

Seriously?

14PPG and a 44% 3FG shooter as a Freshman in the Big10, and that doesn't do it for you?

If I told you we could sign a McDonalds All-American right now who could put up those numbers as a freshman next year, you wouldn't take that?

Add in the fact he has experience in the Big10?
He looks like a good prospect.

Yeah. Anyone who’s ever lived out there knows there is a weird west coast superiority complex from the locals where they greatly look down on states past the Colorado river…with a few exceptions of big northeastern cities.

Not saying that’s in the forefront of every recruits mind but subconsciously being surrounded by that mentality and little jokes your entire life can definitely shape perspective.
Lived 40+ years in Kentucky. 1.5 in the west + lifetime travels. The west is FAR SUPERIOR.

Yes, now I’m not saying they get him, because it’s most likely Washington but I can say that Kentucky will be interested

We’ve already established there hasn’t been a single confirmed piece of information linking him to Kentucky. He has a do not contact tag. That means he has to reach out to Kentucky.

Could there be contact? Sure. But my point is that it’s all based on rumors and heresy. If you want to run with that as fact, cool, but how many times we going to get burned making these assumptions?

You can't pass on a top portal talent to make guys like Perry, Chandler and Noah happy. That is how coaches lose their jobs.
You can't lump Chandler in with Perry and Noah just because they're all White either. Chandler was nearly a 5-star talent in his class. He didn't play organized basketball for over 2 years. The form was coming back as the season progressed.

If he transferred to a place where he was given 30+ minutes to play on a mediocre team next season, then he would probably average at least 14 ppg with a good 3PT% too.

Yup and when Yates goes elsewhere, there will be a lot of hate thrown at pope, especially by the dude you quoted. There will be lots of really bad assumptions too.

Yeah, I'm really anxious to see how much Chandler improves over the summer. He really started coming on late.
It wouldn't surprise me to see him shoot 40%, or better, from the outside next year.

To clarify, it has been established that there is a link between him and Brooks. Whether that link has led to contact from the player yet is the unknown.
I mean if we are looking at it that way there is already a link between Kentucky and Yates. Calipari recruited him in 2022

Kentucky is recruiting basketball players not new permanent residents. A young man can have a pretty nice lifestyle as a Kentucky basketball player.

They say the same thing about other SEC schools. The west is FAR SUPERIOR but this year's Final Four has the states of Alabama, Texas, North Carolina and Florida still standing. You don't go to a school in the Pacific West to play basketball. That ended with John Wooden.

We're not looking at that way though because Calipari is no longer with the program, but Brooks currently is.

I wasn’t trying to be obtuse. Of course there are relationship links. That doesn’t confirm anything though.
And that's why I said, "to clarify." There are links but you said that there are no links. That was untrue, but it is true that there is no confirmation on contact.

No do not contact means Kentucky has to contact his agent

I don't disagree, but if a guy enters and has a "do not contact" tag and already knows where he's going, then there's nothing Pope can do when it comes to that particular recruitment unless that place he wants to go is UK.

I agree. I didn't know he had one when I commented n this thread. Disappointing but not much we can do.

Washington potentially hiring his cousin is something Kentucky can do absolutely nothing about

100% ready to wake up to a “Star USC player Wesley Bates has committed to Washington” tweet tomorrow based on how terribly this portal season has gone
Who is Wesley Bates? I'd be good with that, as long as it's not Yates.

Disagree whole heartedly. I’ve lived all over this country to include coastal SC and Coastal NC, Panhandle of Florida, Coastal south Texas and Dallas, and San Diego for 3 years with a little Palm Springs mixed in….traveled throughout Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Kentucky for the first 20 years of my life.

Nothing superior about the western states, or any states…just finding the vibe you like best. Most places you vacation too seem fun until you live there for multiple years and get the downside as well. Plenty of beautiful east coast cities and towns as well.
