Did you know that at most levels of football being played in the United States, both ends of the football have white stripes painted halfway around the circumference so it is easier to see the ball during night games? The NFL does not allow these, although they did experiment with them in Super Bowl VIII. The NFL wanted to differentiate from college, and with night games being played under the electric lights, there was no need for the stripes.
