That's all I have really. I just wanted to be the first to post that here. I'm sure by the time I click submit, it will be reported. I don't really care or have anything else to talk about on this one. I'm sure we can get someone with "Coach" in their handle to give us some analysis. I have none. Hail State.

ETA GLOAT: Not even 20 posts yet, and I'm breaking a big story. One day, I'll tell my kids about this.

In his first 5 games he'll play Arkansas, Nebraska, and Boise State all on the road. A depleted team after a 0-12 season with Nick Saban as coach couldn't win one of those games. It'll be really hard to gauge how good of a coach he really is.

As far as gauging his tenure at OSU, he had the 2 best WR's in the draft almost back-to-back, a Heisman stat-worthy RB, and a QB that starts in the NFL as a rookie over a serviceable McCoy. Apparently he's a superb WR coach, but he was given godly talent by Gundy.

He'll never get that talent at USM. I don't really know what to think of the hire, personally.

Good. Maybe we catch the Pokes at the right time next season......

....and, as we don't know if this guy can handle being a good coach, good for us come 2014 and 2015. May be a tall task to beat them down in Hattiesburg in 2015. He may win 9 or 10 games and still not be good enough to beat us though. We'll have some studs from 2012 and 2013 recrootin class starting for us by that time.

I can't believe the CL reported this quicker than my sources...

My "sources" would be The Sun Herald. They send me breaking news alerts when something important happens, like temperature changes, USM hiring a head coach, or the mayor of Waveland passing gas. However, they never waste my inbox with not-so-important news, like terrorist attacks or highways being shut down.

But - I was still pretty quick on getting this out to the SPS masses. You're welcome.
