I mean technically not wrong, they’re not what they were in the Pat Casey era, but this still is a program that was in Omaha last year and ranked in the Top 15 entering this weekend.Oregon State isn't what they used to be
Agreed. Very good and solid program but they look even deeper this year. They have played a legit schedule so far and are winning.USM being good is not exactly new. They’ve hosted either a Regional or a Super in 3 of the last 5 seasons, and made it to at least the Regional final 5 years in a row.
They went to the CWS last year as the 8 overall seedOregon State isn't what they used to be
Yeah. They’ve had a good program since the days of hill Denson. But this guy they’ve got now may be the best coach they’ve had. If we hadn’t hired O’Connor he wouldn’t have been a bad choice.Agreed. Very good and solid program but they look even deeper this year. They have played a legit schedule so far and are winning.
4-0 is the only acceptable outcome2-2 against Arizona State, Va Tech, UCLA, & USM will not be a horrible outcome. 3-1 would be awesome.
Have they seen our stadium?USM being good is not exactly new. They’ve hosted either a Regional or a Super in 3 of the last 5 seasons, and made it to at least the Regional final 5 years in a row.
Once again, why are we playing them in Pete Trailer Park? We should only play them at The Dude, Pearl, or Biloxi.
Until they win a game in Omaha, this should be the stipulation we provide them an opportunity to play us.
Playing them home & home is much more beneficial for both teams' RPI than neutral site games.Because it’s probably going to be a good RPI game for us?
Not this again. We should be playing USM home & home every year.Once again, why are we playing them in Pete Trailer Park? We should only play them at The Dude, Pearl, or Biloxi.

Why? We are subsidizing their program and they are no where near on our level to demand a 1 for 1 agreement. Not this again. We should be playing USM home & home every year.
They may sell 1,000 more tickets to that game than to any random weeknight opponent. It’s peanuts. Why? We are subsidizing their program and they are no where near on our level to demand a 1 for 1 agreement.
Again, they benefit from playing us more than we benefit from playing them. Make them play us where we stipulate.

Ok. Now answer my question. What is our benefit for scheduling a 1 for 1 with Mississippi Southern? They may sell 1,000 more tickets to that game than to any random weeknight opponent. It’s peanuts.
Because it’s a Top 25-30 program nationally that’s three hours south of us and we’d be dumb to not play them at least once or twice a year. And it’s beneficial to our resume to play at least one of those games on the road. Why? We are subsidizing their program and they are no where near on our level to demand a 1 for 1 agreement.
Again, they benefit from playing us more than we benefit from playing them. Make them play us where we stipulate.
They are absolutely NOT an historic Top 30 team. They have never even won a game in Omaha. We should not be giving this program a 1 and 1 at Pete Trailer Park.Because it’s a Top 25-30 program nationally that’s three hours south of us and we’d be dumb to not play them at least once or twice a year. You can’t view baseball through a football lens. We are playing a true road game at Samford this year. The year we won a national title, we played a true road game at The Citadel.
Does it matter that they weren’t good 30 years ago? They’ve sure as heck been good for the last decade. 40+ wins every year since 2016, hosted multiple Regionals and a couple of Supers. All this under two different coaches too, and not even the coach that took them to Omaha in 2009. They’ve absolutely been a Top 25-30 program in recent history. It’s not even really much of a debate. They are absolutely NOT an historic Top 30 team. They have never even won a game in Omaha. We should not be giving this program a 1 and 1 at Pete Trailer Park.
It’s a good RPI game & a good rivalry game. We’ll also sell more tickets vs USM than vs a SWAC team. They’re no threat to us. At all.Ok. Now answer my question. What is our benefit for scheduling a 1 for 1 with Mississippi Southern?
This goes for any sport
They were a little unlucky on their Super draw a couple of years ago with it being Tennessee. And even then had a chance to win that Super. Think they won the first game and had a lead in Game 2 before it fell apart.Their next 3 Tuesday nights are hosting Bama, State, and Ole Miss. They are legit. In fact, the probably should have a few more Omaha trips than just the 1.
I’m thinking why not 4-0!USM being good is not exactly new. They’ve hosted either a Regional or a Super in 3 of the last 5 seasons, and made it to at least the Regional final 5 years in a row.
I’m thinking why not 4-0!
Are we conceding W’s now ?
I get what you’re saying but there’s not really any public ‘perception’ hit by playing them in anything but football. And nowadays I’m not sure that’s still a big deal either, they don’t see to be a threat to us there even when we suck (this year for example).Ok. Now answer my question. What is our benefit for scheduling a 1 for 1 with Mississippi Southern?

BOC should be canned immediately if we lose 1.4-0 is the only acceptable outcome
Great points. I’d rather play USM five times in Hattiesburg than play any SWAC games at home or a neutral site. Far, far more beneficial to play them than Alcorn, Valley, North Alabama, UT Martin, and so on.Because it’s a Top 25-30 program nationally that’s three hours south of us and we’d be dumb to not play them at least once or twice a year. And it’s beneficial to our resume to play at least one of those games on the road.

They lost twice in that tournament and are 4-3 dumbass. Two of those three loses are unranked losses. Plus you can't spell, dumbass, dumbass.Dubmass
