And to prove how important that is, Northern Iowa is 2nd, Iona is 9th, and Denver is 10th...

Oh, and Baylor's women have beaten UConn, Tennessee, and Notre Dame and are undefeated, and are 3rd behind ND and UT. Good stuff.

People were getting giddy over being 10th or whatever it was. A couple weeks and only one loss to that No. 4 team later, and we're in the 40s.

RPI is still statistically insignificant.

To illustrate that point, our SOS rank right now is 113. Yours is 179. Take an objective look at our two schedules and tell me which one has been tougher. It certainly isn't the one that's ranked higher right now. By the end of the year, that'll fix itself, but for now the fighting Eustachys get to pretend they're a legit NCAA tourney threat.

They may make the NIT, but that'll be close.

The reason is that they play quite a few true road games in the non-conference. They seem to have a pretty decent team this year though.

I really wish we would start playing 2-3 true road games in the non-conference with one being to a legitimate "BCS" team. It would help our RPI quite a bit.

They're schedule turns next week as they host:
Belhaven (seriously)
Alcorn State
McNeese State

That 4th rated RPI won't last long.

Those games don't count toward the RPI. Getting an easy win over Savannah State (oh ****, they beat us two years in a row) will damage your RPI. It is actually not a terrible strategy. Of course, that is not Larry's reasoning behind scheduling the games. It was awesome when we played like half of Belhaven's conference several years ago and were wondering why. We later found out that Eustachy had a guaranteed extension in his contract for a winning season and was just backdooring his way into an extension.

I'm waiting for one of these teams to beat us. Millsaps actually kept things within 15 for the entire game against one of James Green's decent teams several years back.

I always blow a gasket the first month and a half of baseball and basketball season when people are saying "We are number 1 in the RPI!" Yeah well Florida Gulf Coast is #3.
