USM to make announcement concerning Jeff Hammond on Friday...

...according to Patrick Magee on twitter. <br><br>Considering that USM has a new president & nothing's been reported about an extension being sent for the College Board to approve, I wouldn't be surprised if Hammond is let go-- or at least serves as an interim until a permanent AD is hired. I know nothing-- just pure speculation based on observation.

I buddy of mine is a writer for their Rivals site and is reporting the prez let him go so he (/she?) could have his own people in place. Kind of a dick move considering he was doing a great job.

No idea if Carla is good or not for them, but everyone I knew like Hammonds. Wasn't his fault the old president royally screwed over the athletic dept. by forcing the ellis johnson hire and that terrible contract.

The biggest gripe I heard about him was when he came in and did away w/ some pretty lucrative vendor contracts that were in place w/ old money alums and supporters that were only lucrative for the alums/supporters, not good for the university at all. They (alums) got the sandy ****** syndrome over it and said they were going to pull their financial support. Money talks............
