I do have some concerns about JK after his real poor showing as coach at Bayern Munich after the World Cup. BMFC is one of those jobs that's really hard to screw up because they have far and away the best money and resources in the Bundesliga. When he was fired/quit, that team was crap.

And, as for his success with the German World Cup team, many in Germany credit his assistant at the time Joachim Low with being the brains behind the operation (kind of the Chris Peterson behind Dan Hawkins at Boise State for the non-soccer fans).

Having said that, I think new blood is good. The US looked very flat post-2010 WC and as some one said before, I hope I don't ever have to see Bornstein again. For that matter, it's now time for Altidore to put up or shut up. I'd love to see Dempsey get more time up top as well instead of as a MF. Hopefully, JK can bring some new ideas to the table and be willing to experiment with some new guys in the team.

Unrelated, but watched the MLS All-Star game the other night. Why has this guy, Brad Davis, from Houston, never gotten a sniff from the USMNT? He seemed to be a quality player.

Looking forward to the Mexico match now to see who is called in.

Definitely a big upgrade. I don't expect miracles, but I do expect to see a more consistently competitive team. Bradley had a few huge wins in his career, but he had a lot more games where we played inexcusably poorly.

I wonder what Michael Bradley's reaction to this will be. I think he understands this is a business and will play just as hard for Klinnsmann as he did for his father. But you never know.

Who makes the hiring/firing decisions for the National Team? Is there a board or something? Never really thought about it until they fired the coach the other day..

He finished 3rd in the European Champions League, losing in the semi-finals to the eventual champion. When he quit/was fired, they were only 3 points out of 1st place in the Bundesliga with 5 matches to play.

Other than that, the organization is a little like most pro sports teams. There's a president that reports to the Board and a GM that reports to the president.

U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati named Jürgen Klinsmann as head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team today, making him the 35th coach in the history of the program.

That would be my guess, but not really sure.

What, if any, changes in lineup or tactics do you think we might see over the next six weeks with the three games coming up? Obviously he'll make changes to the overall team strategy and system the longer that he's here, but do you think we'll see any immediate changes?

I don't know anything about this guy, and don't know enough about our team skills to have a clue.
