Defeat wouldn't be that bad, Honduras still has to play Mexico and Costa RIca and USA would still have better goal differential and could make up the points with a comparatively easier remaining schedule.

THat's just for a fight for 3rd place (auto qualification), 4th place would mean a playoff with an asian team.

We are so soft. Toasted anus.

In warm ups, Honduras was hopping around in military formations....we were playing patty cake in a gd circle. I guess we will qualify and that's why we don't care. Idk how soccer works.

Gonzalez/Zusi defense is like dumb and dumber... Honduras is going to keep attacking them and I'd be surprised if they don't get scored on again.

Dodged a bullet there. Take the point and move on. Last 2 games are home against Panama and at Trinidad and Tobago. I think we're still in good shape.

-i enjoy watching the national team...but the US is never gonna be a power. Our best athletes play football, basketball, baseball and even hockey in some regions. Hope i am wrong...but i dont think i will be.

It's slowly changing and I emphasize slowly, because of the head injury issues. On a younger level down here in Dallas you see a bunch of kids that are good athletes gravitating to soccer over football. It's a slow trickle though.

Been hearing that for 30 years. Won't happen in our lifetime.

Still in a world of trouble. By the end of the night we may be tied for 4th. Then gonna have to beat Panama in Florida, and even then, will probably have to win at T&T, Still a very legitimate chance to finish 5th in this group.

Till they find out soccer is worse in terms of severity of concussions.

Probably not. But the CTE information is relatively new and I've read where youth tackle football numbers are trending down. I think that is because a lot of them are playing flag or 7v7 until 7th grade.

That's from repetitive hits, which helmet to helmet over time is probably worse than heading a soccer ball.

But in soccer there is risk for unprotected head to head collisions particularly in younger less aware players. Those can even be fatal, along with other very real possibilities like getting kicked and having an organ ruptured.

Still a very legitimate chance to finish 5th in this group.

It would require a worst case scenario; in the end I think a home win vs Panama will be sufficient for 3rd place on it's own. Desperately need to do something about the defense, maybe not starting a 50 year old at left back would be a good place to startr.

Headers are banned in soccer until the kids are 12 or 13, I think. Still too early, imo, but the rule is there.

Anecdotally, I can count on one hand the number of kids my oldest knows who play or plan to play football. And he knows a lot of kids. It's a complete nonstarter for a LOT of parents.

I think we will see a change in US soccer this generation. When I was a kid my parents didn't know what soccer was. Now my friends that played high level soccer are having children. Higher level coaching etc.

I played football in HS and college. I had at least 2 concussions that I know of.

My middle son played last year but had a bad experience and doesn't want to play anymore. My oldest and youngest have no interest in playing. I'd say maybe 10% of their friends play. That number was probably 25% when I was a kid with regards to my friends.

Based on numbers you are right but I'm not so sure on severity. You don't have a lot of former soccer players offing themselves because of CTE.

Doctors say they are more severe. They attribute it to things like..

- no helmets
- more contact throughout a players career
- no stigma, nobody knew soccer heads smashing together was bad

That's the thing, the constant soccer headers are like jabs or punches to the skull, then the actual head collisions are very severe. Idk how much a football helmet helps, but I don't think anything in football compares to two guys bashing their bare skulls together.

I knew a soccer player who almost died in high school because of that.

What I'm saying is, we need to get out of ahead of this crap and ban damn soccer. Just focus on LAX, or something. Quidditch. Whatever is next.

*We are yearssss away from competing anyway. We need Pulisic to age at least a few more years, then we need to find a handful of players that are better than Pulisic, and we definitely need to not ban DACA and get these foreigners in soccer camps. We're looking at least 10+ years till we can legit compete, and by then soccer CTE secret will be fully unmasked, so we might as well quit.

*headers banned till 12-13. That's nuts. Tells you a lot. Also, that's not practical at all. Anybody that's gonna play soccer is heading balls at 5 and there's nothing you can do about it. We need those guys heading balls, or we just need to fn quit. I vote quit.

We're thin, no two ways around it. Injuries hurt and shows lack of depth. Dempsey is part-timer, not sure of the hate by Lalas there. 4 World Cups is pretty tough if you play for a soccer country. His hate is misplaced. It should have focused on how we have not grown as a country, developing players, not on what our veterans have not contributed.

Cologne fans causing chaos at Arsenal yesterday. Only allocated 3000 tix, managed to come up with 20,000 and cause chaos.

70,000 watched Atlanta/Orlando. That is wild.

I'm sure part of it is the "new" factor but what Atlanta has done at between playing at Georgia Tech and now the new stadium has been pretty impressive.

Is Bundesliga so weak that B. Dortmund rampages thru it while losing handily to Spurs? I know it's early but geesh. BD is fun to watch. Like Red Bulls last year. Who is Dembele?

RM shut down BD's O pretty well. Surprised me. Hard to know how this would have turned out had the blatant RM handball at the goal been called. Even with that, RM tough on the road. Also, Bundesliga looking weaker & weaker.
