Utah’s backup QB was a walk-on who didn’t throw a pass all year. So, what does he do? He leads them on a game-tying TD drive. Sure they eventually lost, but come on. If he can do that, our backups should be able to lead drives against Iowa and Illinois.

There was definitely less than 40 seconds left on the clock when Henderson got tackled. I thought it was 27-29. In the scheme of things it didn't matter, but it was a head scratcher when you could have bled more clock.

We don't need osu winning more. It doesn't help us in the slightest.
Doesn't matter to me what we need regarding the other B10 teams winning or losing out of conference games. oh-high-ya has great talent and will continue to have great talent. They also have a great coach that develops his players and plays his best players regardless of their class standing.

We need better talent on PSU's team at about every position group and we need the PSU coaches to play that talent. Especially at QB, by far the most important player on a football team. And nothing I saw today from PSU, and especially PSU's returning QB, leads to hope that PSU will field a team that can beat oh-high-ya, or any other legit top 15 team PSU will play next season.

And here I thought Franklin was the only coach to have time management issues.
If the worst time management gaffs that Franklin had oversaw were running down the clock in a tie game to kick a chip shot game winning FG with 12 seconds remaining we would likely not have ever discussed Franklin's time management "skills"...........

It was all an illusion. Something was clearly wrong with your TV. 🙂

Didn’t Penn State play OSU this year? Clearly, Penn State’s defense did better than Utah. Stroud is a very good QB, but it sure is a lot easier to go through your progressions and throw more accurately when you have all day to throw. He could have ordered a coke and ham sandwich before deciding which receiver to throw to on a number of plays tonight
The Utah offense carved up their secondary the entire game. Unfortunately they did not have the defense to slow down the Buckeye offense. This game should be the blueprint for Coach Franklin to beat them next year. Let your offense control the clock and then hope your defense gets a few stops.

When was the last time the PSU offense controlled the clock?

Did you watch this season's games, and especially today's game?

Was their field goal kicker injured. If he just kicked the field goal in stead of going for it perhaps they would have won or at least went to overtime

But they are still way ahead of the rest of the Big Ten sadly. Their offense is going to be really good next season.
They hired that DC from Okie State who's replacing their existing DC on his way to Memphis. That Okie State DC was a finalist for the Broyles Award this year and OSU is paying him $1.9 million next year. It's rumored on their sites that a couple of more defensive assistants are on their way out also. If they get that ****** defense figured out in 2022 - along with their offense - they could be lethal next year

Where is this narrative coming from that OSU under Day is that much different than under Meyer? They would always have a head scratcher under Meyer (Iowa, Purdue) that they have avoided under Day. Meyer's last few defenses were pretty awful too in '17 and '18. Let's see how the Okie State d-coordinator does at the real OSU before we write them off.

It's not like they haven't had good defensive coaches. Top 5 defensive talent.

Quick, high scoring offense doesn't lend to dominant defense. If Knowles turns em around drastically, he's gone to a HC job before a second year starts.

If anything, they need to develop a 4 minute offense. Henderson reminds me of Barkley: home run threat every touch, but not a tough inside runner.

Still, when you got Stroud throwing perfect balls it's a minor problem. JSN and Harrison Jr are going to be another great pair next year.

Don't forget Flemming, hell be in the mix....probably be the receiver with little coverage and the greatest opportunity to advertise his talent.

Fleming is going to have an interesting run from spring until September. He definitely has a size factor none of the other 3 WRs have, but it's quite obvious that he's looked upon as a quick out / check down guy right now. Is that schematic or Stroud having preference?

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets passed over simply because he is already battling for the #3 spot with Egbuka and if any of the incoming freshman have future #1 WR skills, he's going to be Jameson Williams'd out of playing time.

Many here assumed if he bided his time he'd be a guaranteed starter and future draftee. I don't see it.

Frankly, Fleming just isn't as talented as Harrison Jr, JSN, and Egbuka. They are using Fleming as a guy on third down to move the sticks. I watched him against Utah and he was merely solid, not spectacular like the other three. Fleming did make some key blocks, but unfortunately he injured his shoulder. That's another knock on him; he has a hard time staying healthy.
