Will lighting strike twice for the athletic program in sin-city?

nebrasketball finished the 24-25 regular basketball awful. Getting crushed by Iowa. Many wanted Fred fired, and with justification. Went on to Vegas for a meaningless tourney that most expected would be a 1 and done. They go out to Vegas, win it, and end the season on a high note. Taking the big mo into this year, off to an 8-0 start and on the verge of being ranked if they beat the Jays

Hmm can this read the same for Husker football and Rhule? LFG

Definitely can hammer us by 4 touchdowns. Have to think though that they be disappointed with LV after a 10 win season and 3rd place finish in B12.

Gentlemen and Gentleladies:

This is New Years Eve in our fair city, Las Vegas. If you cannot get excited about the opportunity to wash away any post-game despair with Vegas lights, liquor (and ladies if you swing that way) on New Years Eve, then you are looking at this all wrong. Plus if you come here for the bowl game it will help keep us from having to implement a state income tax.

Very truly yours,

Vegas Residents

As a fellow Vegas resident, I second this.

If it is Whittingham's last game coaching Utah the players who might not have played to get ready for the draft might change their minds and play, and the entire team may be super motivated to win for their coach. My heart says we may rise to the occasion. My head says this could be a beatdown like the Championship game against Wisconsin.

These bowl games are crapshoots.

Really? Maybe I’m just getting old, but Vegas for New Years sounds like a sh*t show. New Years is already amateur hour. Gotta believe Vegas New Years is amateur hour on crack
Depends where you go and what you are doing. Want to mingle with the Great Unwashed in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard at 11:58 p.m.? Yes you can catch something that not only happens here but does not stay here and get stuck in a mosh pit. But there are so many top notch events in the hotels with the massive NYE fireworks show and great entertainment that comes to Vegas around the date that NYE is actually one of the events/days that if you plan it right is fantastic, Vegas remains top notch for an NYE experience.

Um, we were in the middle of a 9 game winning streak, with an experienced Qb, and very good rb. We lost our oline coach, DC, star running back, and still have a freshman at qb who didn't look good in the previous two games, games we got beat by 30 a game. The team we are playing is an elite running team that is physical to the core. I get it that their team might just decide not to play and opt out. This isn't really an indictment on the team. If we had won our last two games, the Dylan and Donnie would still be leaving, as would the DC. More of a reflection on the quality of bowl season, which is effectively ruined by the transience of players and coaches. The NCAA put in massive amounts of restrictions on meetings, practices, rosters, time with coaches all the while allowing players to leave whenever and encouraging coaches to be fired at the worst possible times to put a decent product on the field. Its like some great collusion between the money makers to screw over the fans and produce the worst product possible, mainly because college football fans have to be the dumbest lot.

Sports is basically for gamblers now…they don’t care who’s playing or who wins, just cover the spread. There should be a post season tournament like all lower divisions have, and the have nots just go home.

Wasn't they line like UCLA -10?

I am a horrible husker historian so I really don't even know if i am thinking about the right bowl game.

On the positive side, we have a chance to beat a ranked team.

Shoot. I must be getting old. Winter is finally getting to me. Las Vegas sounds nice right about now...

Never gone to a bowl game before. Whats the ticket purchasing process generally like? Through the Uni, through the bowl game, or am I just gonna wind up on seat geek?

I'm not an expert, especially since we didn't go to bowls for so long. My past experience was UNL got two blocks that they sold to season ticket holders based on donor points and then to general public based on how long the applicant was on a waiting list if any were left. One block sucked like low in the endzone. The other block was decent, but went to people with a lot of donor points. I tried buying from the bowl in the past, but never had any luck. The tickets the bowl sells go to locals who sponsor the bowl (e.g. Tempe Chevrolet), businesses who sponsor the bowl (Foster Farms) and league tie-in team big wigs. Alot of the latter end up on the secondary market. So the past two prior to Pinstripe (in Santa Clara and Nashville) I bought from Seat Geek not long before the game and did OK as far as price and seat location.

Las Vegas is not a bad place to spend New Years Eve and watch the Huskers play. Now they may not win the game but that does not mean you don't go and support and you never know the new OL coach may be able to coach up the group a bit to make a game of it. Enjoy the New Year in one of the great Western cities and cheer the Huskers on win or lose. GBR!
