Vandy is the one I can't figure out. Never had any hate...

for them over the years but whether they're behind any of the accusations or not, I can't figure out how the hell they are suddenly pulling in the type of recruits they are getting. Academic requirements aside, I find it odd what they are doing recruiting wise. Sure, Franklin seems to be the real deal but geez, is that enough to honestly in a recruit's mind, make up for decades of doormattedness this fast? And before anyone pulls the Mullen card out and tries to compare, Remember this...we know what Atlanta looks like. We know what Peach Bowls and a Cotton Bowl look like before Mullen. I'm just a bit skeptical over exactly what's going on with them.

Don't they actually send most athletes to another school

that's part of Vanderbilit, but with much less restrictive academics? I can't remember the name of the other college ... maybe Peabody? Tulane does (or perhaps "did"). They could go to Tulane College.

Peabody is the school of education at Vanderbilt. I don't remember separate schools for the athletes when I worked at VU.

Vandy is loaded with money. The day they decide they want to compete, they can. They have decided lately that they want to play ball.

With Franklin there you would get a chance win some games and possibly go to a bowl, get a Vandy diploma, which is a great name to have on one, spend your time in Nashville, and if you're lucky enough, get to nail (and possibly marry) a rich doctor or rich lawyer's daughter. What's not to like?

Well other than being ten times the snobbish ******** Ole miss fans are, they are very likable. Lived there. 17 them.

What has Vanderbilt really done? Being better than Kentucky and barely losing high profile games doesn't really make them up-and-coming.

Yeah, even though Vandy has re-energized their program and is recruiting well, they still have to establish a winning culture. That will be the real challenge there. Changing the players/fans expectations to actually believing that they can win big games will be a monumental task! It would take years of competitive play to get that plateau.

They're loaded with money but refuse to upgrade facilities. As long as they play in that hollowed out landfill and are holding indoor practices at a renovated YMCA they'll not be making any large steps anytime soon, and Franklin will be gone as soon as there's a better offer.

Really not much more than they've done plenty of times in the past. Their best regular season record has been 6-6, which has allowed them to go to their first 2 bowls in forever. But really, that's just the result of adding the 12th game against a I-AA team and the glut of bowls. They went 5-6 five times in the 15 years before the 12th game was added. There's been a lot of hype, but they're really not much better than the same old Vandy. And I don't see that changing any time soon.
