Petersen has much bigger aspirations than a backwater SEC also-ran.

But, thank you Greg MFn Byrne for believing you had a shot at him and, unlike your piece of **** predecessor, aiming high.

[Edited to add]: Lest we forget, Saban denied he was leaving Miami. The pipe dream is not dead.

If not Peterson, would we think about looking at his OC?

Bryan Harsin
Bryan Harsin is in his eighth season as a member of the Bronco football staff and his third as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The 31-year-old Harsin is one of the top young assistant coaches in the country and one of the youngest offensive coordinators in Division I football.

Or do only look at head coaches?

Just a thought.

i really think he is holding out until oregon becomes vacant at some point. I applaud Greg for asking though... it never hurts.

...What does it tell us when a Miss. State Clarion-Ledger reporter is allowed to releash word that a certain big name coach is no longer interested?

It's code for: "The coach is interested."

I interpret Veazey's "bad news" to mean Petersen is interested.

While it is certainly the norm for coaches to trot out the " I am happy where I am at" line, even when they are talking to school in question, its tough to say that it is a sign they are interested.

One thing to remember.....no current head coach is going to say they are interested in leaving their current job until the deal is complete.

Anything said by anyone before they say "I am accepting the head coaching position of XX Univ", means no more than what is written by us know-it-all's on here.

He may be 100% serious in saying that or he may be 100% blowing smoke.

"and that's where we're going to be until we get offered enough to be somewhere else" "and that's where we're going to be until the season is completely over and all bowl games are played" "and that's where we're going to be for a little while longer"

...I haven't thought about Petersen much, so he's not my "favorite." Though he definitely would be a 5 star, blue chip hire for MSU.

I'm just pointing out that in order to keep the Boise State idiots off his ***, he has to act like he is happy with his current job.

The Veazey types are used by these A.D.'s & coaches in order to spread the "nothing is about to change" propaganda.

Given what we know about Byrne, don't think Byrne is going to stay in secret contact with Petersen to the very end?

I would say it's a foregone conclusion.

It was a stupid call that accomplished nothing.
