VHSL has indicated the each region is responsible for the points. DO we know if they will be published anywhere? Do we know who in each region will be responsible?
Getting these correct is tedious and can be difficult, Understanding who is a qualified out of state opponent, getting ALL the scores correct and interpreting tiebreakers.

We can only hope they are published somewhere; that they do not become like the situation with the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz.

4B will be done right and posted when the time comes. I know the guy responsible and he is a perfectionist.

Everyone else…, who knows? I heard through the rumor mill that Class 5 hired someone to do theirs.

There are some pretty sharp posters on here who keep up with things.

Personally, I don't know the formula for doing the points.

However, like the original poster says, trying to track down scores is a chore!

I was glancing around the 4B website back in the Spring for some baseball schedules and noticed that they tend to use power points for a lot of sports…not just football.

And I remembered that the points were fairly up to date (within a week) so I believe there will be no problem with transparency and timeliness this time around as well.

I know him too and he can't wait to get the word to release them next Monday or the following Monday. In the past they were released on the 5th Monday (if games were completed due to weather). Depends on if you count week 0 or start at week 1.

Same situation for us. The VHSL dropped the ball on the Master Schedule when they didn’t include the out of state and private schools.

Those that know me know that I have always defended the VHSL from unwarranted criticism. But, they deserve to be criticized for passing off the responsibility for the ratings calculations to the Regions. And the actual reason they did this is even more absurd. And then they compounded the situation by being delinquent on publishing the Master Schedule, and the numerous errors it contained. And then to neglect to include the relevant private and out of state information?

The VHSL Executive Committee needs to step in and mandate that the League office do the ratings, and make it clear that the Master Schedule can not be neglected like it was this year.

SC, this is certainly appreciated but your work may be in vain. I heard something different last night from a coach about what determines playoff seeding in 6D and it is very different from what we have all come to know. I don't know if this is absolutely true yet but I intend to verify tonight with an administrator if I can. 6D is going to match the top four teams from the Concorde against the Liberty but it will be based on district finish/record and will not include power points or games against OOD opponents in determining a team's record. Top 4 from each district and they then match up 1vs4, 2vs3, etc. Ties in district record will be broken by a system of tie-breakers similar to other sports (like basketball, so I am told). Region 6C is allegedly using power points since it was proposed to keep the same system as what 6D adopted but one district thought that was unfair to them (four per district) so 6C settled on power points and 6C could end up with 5 or even 6 teams from one district earning playoff berths.

Again, I need to try to verify this. DP, in his response to your post, is absolutely correct that the VHSL deserves criticism for the mess it has created with this. The VHSL has always left it up to the regions to decide who is their representative at the state level but this is absurd.

Thanks falcettik

So OOC games could mean little to nothing for Concorde and Liberty. And agreed on VHSL and the regions, transparency and diligence earns leniency.

If you had the VHSL form districts classification size, and had every school play a full district schedule, then the points would be a non-issue and you could schedule tough in the OOD to prep you for district opponents and for the postseason while having the postseason having the same format for all classifications.

I will keep beating this drum despite the disagreement of some on this board.

And I don’t care if you’re a geographic outlier in a depressed area of the state or a school that would be in a district with a perennial powerhouse.
