I almost made it to the end but when he said he tells his guys to never wish away time, I figured I would heed his comments and do something more productive than listen to him avoid answering most questions.

Glad someone finally asked him about the rule changes with the clock. Given that we will be underdogs in most games, I think it is potentially a bigger deal for RU than he lets on.

You made it farther than me, he just repeats the same things with different names.

What do you guys expect home to say?
NW - What a clusterf*ck, that program is a **** storm. Should be an EZ W!

It's regular coach speak, no actual gameplay to comment on

Really? I thought his first answer was really exceptional and out of character. Thoroughly answered that question.

And was scratching my head on this part of his answer about injuries:

"I think we need to do more. We need to make sure we protect the student athletes. With gambling really growing the way it has, you know, when that information becomes so valuable, you know, hopefully we're starting something here that will grow."

If you wanted to know more about the team and players while satisfying your personal need to know more information maybe should have been a college coach or work with RS and MB. As someone else mentioned what did you expect him to say? It will be a good game and I expect us to come out on top. 27-16 Rutgers.

He said he will release the injury report two hours before the game, which is B1G protocol. And he said that releasing the injury report is important so gamblers can adjust their picks based on those injuries. It seems like the gambling companies are giving kickbacks or something for Schiano to even give a crap about gamblers. So he did not answer the question who is hurt, we have to wait until game day.

I'm old enough to remember Aditi writing about this freshman "Raymell Rice" in 2005 and how good he looked and the next year how this backup d end named Eric Foster will need to get on the field. That 'openness' didn't hurt our results too much back then and even - gasp - helped create some excitement.

It’s a strategic advantage to say as little as possible before the first game. No is going to remember his press conference, but they will remember if he won or lost the game. The Northwestern coach won’t even release the name of their starting QB. I know people have their own feelings about Schiano, but I don’t know how anyone can get on his case over what he said or didn’t say at a press conference.

Schiano started this when he returned and he has his reasons why. His team, his rules . Amazing that fans are triggered by his decision on this. Also it keeps the negative chatter to a minimum. He also does it to limit outside access by certain media types who have for years written some questionable pieces.

If you want to know how the team looks this Summer, look into Richies prediction for the season. He's saying 4-8.

The only thing I can assume is that some CFB fans (not just Rutgers - I would presume other fanbases as well) feel entitled to more information because they directly donate and fund the team.
That money should give them perks like additional information.
ADs make it pretty clear fans are responsible for success. Well if they are so important to the program, they should get more access.

I don't really agree with the above think HC Schiano should do whatever he thinks leads to success. Don't really care about no information or "coach speak" answers.

I also think the "secrecy" is overrated but I'm not a coach and a lot of them do it so - let HC Schiano do what he wants.
