It wound up costing them valuable time. Took them longer to score from the 35 than it might have from the 20. The ref has to make that call. If you're Vincent Jackson, why do that?? What the hell was going through his mind?

to kick it back to him like "you bastard here is your challenge flag back" it was like he was trying to get it on his toe and flick it back to them. Pretty weak if you ask me.

Actually wasted 5 secs... because they would have had the 2 min warning... then they took the timeout at the 1:55 mark.

If you are able to read his intent from a wide angle camera shot, then you should be able to read the blackjack dealers like a book.

Honestly, it was just a dumb thing to do.

if they would have kicked the ball off, they wouldn't have gone for it on 4th deep in their own territory. That was the big mistake.

That penalty by Jackson actually only wasted 4 secs. Sproles got a 19 yard pass and got out of bounds.

prospectively and of course, looking back on it.

I assume they couldn't have run off 14 seconds when they kicked it off long and screwed SD out of the 2 minute warning.

b/c the chargers may have scored a lot sooner. Say Sproles took them 19 yards to the 1 on the next play. and then they quickly punched it in. That would have been more than 4 seconds.

IT also took the option of kicking a 37 yd FG with 3 minutes left as soon as Jackson caught it.

They weren't going to kick the field goal on 1st down with a struggling fg kicker!

time was of the essence. Im not saying its what you should do. But its certainly a viable option.

Kaeding has to make a field goal at some point doesn't he? They needed 10 points correct? I mean, the chargers weren't going to score 2 TDs. What better than a 37 yarder giving you far more time, which may allow you to kick it off deep.

yeah but while the Chargers have the ball so deep into the jets territory, they were and would have no doubt gone for the TD, until it got 4th down. Esp knowing they would have to get a TD regardless at some point.
