From a Giants perspective I don’t get it. From my perspective see ya.
Agree, I just don't remember this being a trend in general college baseball coach being hired to go coach in MLB? After asking the google machine the only other one was Pat Murphy but he spent 10 years coaching the minors before getting a skipper job?

I am glad we got who we got when we got him.
I don't think you'll see Tennessee continue to invest the amount needed in baseball to become a powerhouse. Their little run here was almost ALL Vitello, like most schools.

Will they fall completely off? Probably not. But they'll likely return to the ranks of South Carolina or so. Very few schools like us and LSU that care enough to go all in like we have. Most of them will start to go all in once they are winning, so they have to get lucky with a coach.

I guess in today's world of college sports 100-million-dollar renovation for the baseball stadium is not that big of an investment. If they really were serious, they would have spent 105 million.

I’m holding my celebration on this for fear that this goes the way of Saban and the Dolphins right about the time Dave Van Horn and Mike Bianco are getting ready to retire…. And then we have Tony back in the fold at a far more annoying spot for us.

The Giants can make a bigger splash by hiring Kiffen as the Pitching Coach.

Everybody has to do facilities.

Once the high of Vitello starts to subside, you'll see what I mean.

Two ways to change your fortunes in the MLB:

1. Full re-boot from the farm up. Draft strategy, culture, managers, etc. It takes some time but then you end up winning the division four of last five years like the Brewers.

2. Buy a roster like the Dodgers.

This is a bizarre move by the Giants.
