College Food Fight Tournament: SEC Edition.

http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/1/28/3915892/college-football-food-sec-restaurants

I voted Krystal. Who was there way back when Starkville had no other late night options? Krystal. Who else has a drive through I've puked in (that I'm aware of)? Nobody. Who else lets you put chili on every menu item without blinking? Maybe Waffle House, which is a close second in my book. Who won't leave you high and dry when you're craving spicy chicken on Sunday? You know who. And finally, after the all-SEC title game last year, in what vaunted establishment did an inebriated Alabama fan look around and see an incapacitated LSU fan and think "this looks like a good spot to pull my sack out." Yes. Krystal. Vote Krystal. You'll get over the shame eventually.

And they had to go with chains because they're trying to find ONE representative for the conference as a whole. Otherwise, it turns into a contest of which individual town's favorite restaurant has the most fans. Then some College Station landmark wins because A&M fans come out of the woodwork for online polls. It's also not about quality (Copeland's is getting smoked by almost everybody, even Huddle House). Just vote. And then check out the Big10's selection, and pity them.

No write-ins? At the very least you need to take a restaurant from each college town. I'd think Little Dooey's and Taylor Grocery would at least make the voting list.

Kind of hard to believe there's still people out there who think Little Dooey is worth a ****...

Fried ribs are fantastic. But the pork and brisket aren't what they used to be.

Petty's Grilled Cheese BBQ Sandwich is the business.

They are well-known throughout the SEC landscape, whether you like it or not. If any Starkville restaurant is going to win awards, it's going to be Little Dooey. Others might be better, but it matters not.

Yeah. And if its gonna be chains, then its gotta gotta be CFA. The other restaurants don't have a bowl game.

I've tried every BBQ place in town - Dooeys is still the best.

Best pork, best chicken, best sides. Petty's is always nasty and fatty when I go.

I always thought Sonnys BBQ near the golf course off of 82 had the best BBQ, but I heard it burned down, and is now under new name. Their hot BBQ sauce was awesome, until the next day of course.

That's odd, for me it was always Route 44 Cherry Limeade + 151 = hangover.

(and the Big12 gets to claim Sonic because of its Oklahoma base)

Sonny's triple cheeseburger with hot BBQ sauce was the best. thing. ever. It was one of those things you started preparations for on Friday morning and by lunchtime Saturday you were prepared for it.

Agree on Sonnys. You can get better que out of the freezer section at Kroger than at Dooey's.

I've been in Starkville for five years and haven't heard of Sonny's. If it is under a new name, anybody know what/where?

Dooey's tends to be inconsistent and Petty's pulled pork is too fatty (everything else there is great though), so I need some reliable BBQ.

It's called Morris' now, or was for while at least. Sonny's BBQ was decent, but I went for the burgers and that sauce. I like Lil' Dooey's but the pulled pork is watered down and flavorless. I'm not convinced there is truly a good place to get good pulled pork/ribs in Starkville.

Morris BBQ and Steak house is located on 16 Section road off of Old Hwy 82 E. Last road on the left, before you get to MSU golf course.

It's closed now. Has been every time I went past it at least. Even has a sign out front that says closed. It's Pettys or dooeys for q now.

The place was next to a house and looks like a shop if you weren't looking. But that stuff was good. I think the guy had a heart attack and died if I'm not mistaken. That's when it changed to Morris'
