I mean if people if the AP voteres felt we were a top 10 team that's great but I can't really be upset if people still don't believe in this team.

We all know how this stuff goes. If you start out highly ranked, you have more leeway. If you are historically consistent, you have a bit more leeway.

We've won a bunch of games this season, but we've won a bunch of close games. Now those gsames are on the board. We have a very legitimate shot at the playoffs now.

Whether we are 12th or 10th or 20th or 5th, it doesn't really matter because that's the beauty of this. The next five games is going to determine this season. One of two things is going to happen here:

1) We handle teams like Missouri, UT and UF. We then we'll make the playoffs assuming we take care of business against Vandy and UL. Vegas will catch up and so will the voters. We'll def be in the top 10.

2) We don't.

I can't blame voters for not being completely on the bandwagon here. Many here thought we were fornuate to beat OU. The LSU and USC games could have gone either way.

Had we been dominant in our wins a stronger case could easily be made for top 10. Our 6-1 could easily be 3-4 though as 3 of our wins were a single play away from being a loss.

Yeah im fine with it. Truthfully, im not really convinced yet that we are a top10 team underneath it all. Have we earned it with this tough SOS and being 6-1, probably. But trying not to get ahead of my skis yet.

Alabama, who doesnt look great right now, still gave us a whooping. The two two-point conversion wins were epic, but could have very easily gone the other way when its that close.

So im fine being in the low teens, for now. Keep winning and we will move up.

I definitely think the lack of dominating wins hurts a bit. And as someone said we are 12th and im not outraged nor do I view as a tragedy.

Kicking Vandys *** would help our look to the committee and ensure we are in top 12 for first rAnkings release week leading up to TN.

Out of our 6 wins, 2 are cupcakes at home, but 3 are road wins. 2 are against teams that started out in the top 10, which means they have top 10 talent.

The LSU win was at home, but those guys were expected to challenge for a titke this year.
We were dogs in all 3 of our road wins.

But really good SEC teams are getting absolutely wrecked when they go on the road in this league. I think it's crazy that we have to gap SEC teams in road games where we went in as a dog in each game.

Heck, we did just win at Oklahoma by 8, that's very impressive, especially considering we did it without Baxter.

I think we have done more to prove we are a top ten than some in the top 10 though.

Does UCLA, Utah or BYU go 6-1 against the schedule we played to this point?

UCLA has played SDSU, Cal, Maryland, Oregon and Wisconsin. And Oregon and Wisconsin are pretty bad this year.

BYU got the win over ND, but they've played TCU, Iowa State, GT, Colo St, arizona and Utah Tech. Now, GT is a good win, but like the ND game, it was at home.

Utah beat the brakes off Arkansas, beat KU by 17 and barely got past Colorado last weekend.

Our resume is better than all 3 of those schools, but I get it, it's UK. I love that we're ranked, I'm definitely not complaining, but I would love to see UK with a top 10 ranking.

I do like our resume so far, for sure. I guess sort of using the eye-test, I wouldn;t be surprised if some people still have questions about Kentucky being truly a top10 team.. but, you are supposed to use the schedule and the SOS, and with those things, it's hard to deny UK right now.

This is the correct take. Stein has revitalized this program and we are trending in the right direction 1000%. When he gets all his transfers and recruits over the next couple years really think we have a legitimate shot to make the 24 team playoff most years.
but this team isn’t a top 10 team. Maybe in the rankings at this part of season you can say maybe. You can never say what would Utah or ucla be with our schedule. Nobody knows that answer. They both might beat us or we might beat them. Who knows. All speculation. Great season so far, and I’ll be happy to come on here and eat crow if we beat tennesee mizzou and Florida and make the playoff. But we could have Easley dropped 2-3 games and not be ranked. Everyone is so high right now, and for good reason, but not a top 10 team.

I waffle back and forth on this stuff.

But that's exactly why we aren't rating higher...........because of the closeness of the wins.

But then again how much are you supposed to beat LSU at home by? How much should you beat Texas AM on the road? OU? USC?

I don’t care if UK is top 10. I understand why other teams are in the top ten. BUT if you gave Georgia or Tennessee or Texas or Florida UK’s exact record, would THEY be in the top 10? IDK. But, IMO, bias kept UK out of the top 25 after we went on the road and took down USC.

I would like to beat Vandy like 40-10 or something. Get a real nice game out there. We owe them a beating.

As long as people are making these choices, there's going to be bias. Unforunately.

And it would help dispell this notion that we are really just getting lucky and squeeking by.

Yeah Vandy at home.........that's the team you have to come out against and put up huge numbers. If the Vegas line is 12......we want to win by 21. We want to overperform relative to where everyone thinks these two teams are at talent wise.

The other thing with the polls is.........does anyone really know? lol

I mean UK could be the 12th best team...........or the 10th .......or the 7th ..........or further down the list.

I'm not even sure there's a clear consensus on who number 1 is..............much less the difference between 10th and 12th lol.

I was actually kinda surprised we jumped to #12 considering that six of the seven teams immediately above us also won last week. When you get this high in the rankings, it gets harder to go up without some teams ahead of you losing.

I’m not taking anything away from our wins at all but the reality is exactly what I stated. Don’t get the 2 point conversion against USCjr or LSU those two wins are losses. OU had possession with 1:30 to go and merely needed a FG to win. All three games could have easily been losses and if even one was we aren’t even having this discussion but our team finds a way to win and for that I do feel they have been rewarded with their ranking. It will all work itself out in the end and feel like we can lose one more and still secure a spot in the top 12. 2 more losses I’m afraid will have us on the outside looking in but damn 9-3 in year 1 no one (or at least not many) thought possible.

Yeah, but you can't play the what-if game. The truth is, UK was a dog in all those games and they won them.

Last year, IU caught a td pass at the very back of the end zone to stay undefeated. If that guys heel comes down, they lose, but it didn't come down.

The other thing is, teams like UCLA and Utah didn't have to beat LSU and South Carolina by going for 2, because they're busy playing Colorado, Utah Tech and Iowa State. If they played our schedule, they probably aren't ranked at all right now.

Definitely, I’d love to see that. I think the offense is due a good game here as well.

Man I hope we beat Vandy. Halloween weekend I’d feel like a million bucks being 7-1 in a bye week watching other teams beat each other up.

We have found a way to win close games, but looking at these past 2 games closely isn't pretty. Huge turnovers at key times kept us in the game in both. Our defense got picked apart the entire game against LSU and Oklahoma. I've never seen a team give up so many 12-15 yard passes and few points come from the drives like this team. That won't hold up . We have to get better at pass defense or we will lose a few games down the stretch
