Played 4AA West Forsyth, 4A RJR and Parkland and 3A Rockingham County, 2AA West Stokes. Brutal non-conference. They will be tough out just like last year.

East Wilkes will have a tough task on Friday night. In this situation, those stats mean absolutely nothing. I would predict Walkertown to win this game.

Locker Room Fodder for you Cardinals. The last 2 games should have you guys really hungry. Better be, if not basketballs will be bouncing the following Monday. Prove me wrong but there seems to be some incohesiveness within the Cardinals team. They've looked a shell of themselves the last 2 or 3 weeks. The triple option has got to get a little tougher. Teams have completely took the dive man out of mix, making the Cardinals rely soley on outside runs. It fails miserably against a team with any speed, in which I'm sure Walkertown possesses some. Get it together Cardinals. The defense has did it's job all year. Now, it's time for the offense to max out or go home.

All I can tell you about Walkertown is if you get them down, you better finish them off and bury them. Otherwise, no lead is safe. You don't really want a close game in the 2nd half if this year's team is anything like last year. We led as much as a touchdown deep in the 3rd quarter and they grabbed momentum after a turnover and buried us. And we were pretty decent last year.

It's a matter of which team will show up for Walkertown. They spank East Surry and turn around and get spanked by Mt. Airy...and then Mt. Airy turns around and get schooled by East Surry.

Walkertown has the toughest schedule in the state at the 1A/1AA level (non-conf/conf), WRH may come in a close second.

Walkertown should walk right to the 3rd round and finish off West Montgomery in a close one.

Hopefully the team that played West Stokes and Mt. Airy will show up. I do believe this is a toss up game. East D has played really well all year. For whatever reason the O has struggled the last two games. Could be because the competition has been better.

They do play a tough, tough nonconference schedule. It strikes me that they were not in any of those games. RJR and Parkland are by no means powerhouses, but of course they have more kids to choose from.

Have a safe trip to Ronda, hears to a hard fought game.

I want to add some insight into sways post that alot of people don't know. Walkertown beat a ES team that was not 100% that night. The ES team that beat MA was back to full speed. Not making excuses because Walkertown was better then ES that night. Walkertown did play a brutal schedule but you are reading to much into the Walkertown/ES game result. Best of luck to the EW Cardinals and the Wolfpack. Got to pull for our conference foe in this one however.

This game will depend a lot on which team will show up on both sides. Both have been inconsistent this year at various points.

East's been more consistent in conference as they won solid until the last two weeks; Walkertown struggled thru most of the Northwest. They beat a banged up East Surry team in terrible weather but they let Atkins stay in the game with them for 3 quarters before getting wild and putting it away and won a thriller over WS Prep.

It will either be a thriller or a blowout of either teams. Gonna be a hard one to pick to be honest.

Surprised most of the Albemarle posters have been cool as bleep through the years, some of the best by far.

Honestly East should be sitting at 10 - 1 with two one point loses. Against Surry Central we had 6 turnovers and against West Wilkes we had a 13 point lead in the fourth quarter. The Wilkes Central game was the only game that I believe East has been out manned in this season. An L is still an L. I do believe this group of guy's are ready to make a run this post season. Hopefully the week off has been beneficial for them.

I look for a hard fought game on Friday night. Those two one point loses have sure made week one a lot tougher. Here is to a good game and safe travels to Ronda on Friday night. Does Walkertown travel well?

Probably the athletic ability of Walkertown and how brutal a schedule they played.

Ok. not super athletic getting killed by West Stokes. Not a knock on West Stokes, but they are not what many would call athletic. Not sold on Walkertown. I wouldnt be surprised either way if EW wins. Walkertown like everyone else may be overlooking EW at home and buying too much into Walkertown being far superior athletically. Not sold on them until you really beat someone like Reynolds who is 4a but not good at all by 4a standards. The 1a Wallace Rose Hill's would beat 4a Reynolds like a drum. EW vs WTown will be close. Nothing EW will do will phase Walkertown, this is true, but just because you played a tough schedule and lost all the tough games doesnt make you superior.

I like East Wilkes in this game, I think by 7 to 14 points. I can't say that I know a lot about this year's versions of the 2 teams, but I just know that after Mitchell played both of these teams in back to back weeks last year in the playoffs EW was the much better team in my opinion, more physical and fundamentally sound. I think Walkertown lost more of their team from last year as well, and just in my opinion Walkertown was no more athletic than EW either. I'll probably be completely wrong, but that's just my 2 cents.

IMO this EW team has more speed than last year, but the line play is not as sound. The line has had a solid year, but last year they were special. To me the linebackers and secondary are the strength of this team and should make for a good match up.

Cornerbacks and Safeties got obliterated for EW in this game. Good game plan Wtown. Very Patient offense and hit the big play when you needed it all night!!! #3 Devan Couch took a nasty hit on a kick off return late in the 1st half.. WOW. I have to admit, speed was the difference especially with the Wideouts. Walkertown defense is ok. W town 's Offense just kept gaining confidence with every snap. Qb was so patient, made excellent reads for them. Good game to both teams.

Yes, I believe the better team won last night. I was proud of the effort from the Cards.

Best back to back seasons in school history. Still a lot of talent in the program. Take a week to rest and get in the weight room. Next year will be special if they continue to put in the work.

Classy post as usual Realfreedom, and the bar has now been set by the last two Cardinal teams as you mentioned above, so good luck to the Cards moving forward...Sounds like the foundation for success has been established!

As for Walkertown, this season will be their last hurrah in the 1A ranks, so it will be interesting to see if that is motivation enough for this year's Seniors to lead their teammates to another surprise or two before their time in the 1A class is done....Good luck to the Wolfpack as well!

Styles make fights also. Everyone in the MVAC wouldve beaten all the teams that the NWC played for the 1st rd.. It was the luck of the draw that East Surry gets to play a weak PLPrep team...MA earned the right to play a very weak S.Stanly team..while the MVAC teams played conference champs and tougher opponents the very 1st rd..all did except Alleghany.. Every team in the conference that made the playoffs would have beaten Hayesville. Realtalk. MVAC had a poor showing due to playing way better comp in the 1st rd...well some of us..

Thank you , Tigertown_a_Rick,
I do believe the foundation has been set. The last two JV teams have been 10 & 0 and battled it out with Wilkes Central each year, that inspite of injuries and other guy's playing up. There is a ton of talent in Ronda. We had sporadic line play this year, but kids got a bunch of experience. Take that experience and continue to add to that with another year lifting and the sky is the limit for next year. IMO a deep, deep run is in store for next year, but you never know.
