Warning: Byrne post. If we finish 3-9 (likely) and Croom stays...

then I'm forced to say strike one against Greg Byrne. I know he's walking on hallowed ground right now, but if this train wreck is allowed to keep on rolling, and puts us another year or two behind, then it'll be Byrne's fault too. The experiment has obviously failed.

Before everyone crawls, I really, really like Byrne. Just sayin'....if we go 3-9, you either fire him this year, or wait until we go 3-9 and fire him next year. So......?

He 's not gonna do better next year. We know we have to fire him next year anyway, so go ahead and do it now.

Quick. Like yanking off a band-aid.

I say fire him Tues.

The national press is gonna be paying attention to some other **** that day. Anything State does that day will be back page lower right corner.

I ought to work PR for the Democrats. I'm a sneaky little bastard.

if the $$$ is there to buy Croom out. I would think if we do finish 3-9, that is the only holdback. Ending the season with a 4 game losing streak AND losing to OM would lead to even the most positive of MSU fans jumping ship.

but there will be a hell of a lot less money next year if he is still around.

I say it's cheaper to take out a loan to pay his *** off.

New (right young) coach = excitement and ticket sales.

Old (fat and worthless) coach = less than yesterdays attendance all season long next year.

If we lose 10,000 season ticket holders, that'll cost us a hell of a lot more than Crxxm's $1.7M salary. Not to mention we'll get a $10M revenue boost from the TV contract money next year.

MSU has a lot of money tied up in Croom, sure.

Croom's lone remaining upside is his incoming recruiting class ( depending on who does or does not defect, of course).

Let's get that recruiting class squared away before we begin calculating who is going to take the biggest financial hit once Croom is sent packing.

And please, for the love of Mike, sign a reliable FG kicker.

First, no coaches will be willing to go then, and second, the NCAA would probably let everyone out of their signings.

..fire him after signing day.

Keeping Croom one more year due to the potential of his first solid (at least on paper) recruiting class was something I thought was clearly implied.

I guess not.

* new (right, young) coach NOW * big-time A/V production for MooTube, band, pre-game entry, etc. * totally coordinated MSU identity management - colors (real maroon), logos, uniforms, maroon helmets, fan apparel, all sports, etc.

How can you be worried about 1 potential recruiting class and willing to mortgage more of our future on it?

Every player on our team was recruited by Croom, except for T. Lee our starting QB (walkon), J. Smith SR WR our best receiver last year (walkon), B. McRae our best WR (transfer), J. Chaney starting MLB before injury (signed by Georgia but couldn't get in), M. Brown returning starting LT (transfer from Florida), and some special teams players.

Yes, this recruiting class appears better on paper, but this is the same staff that evaluated and recruited most of the players on this team. What makes you think we are really going to be better with one class?

keeping a coach based purely on "potential" of one recruiting class trumps actual results of his 5 years of incompetence. Great idea, dumbass.

If Croom somehow blows this incoming recruiting class, you & 15 of your closest sixpack friends will be screaming bloody murder over it.

Nutt is taking Big O's recruits & doing something with them.

Just like Jackie took Felker's recruits & did something with them.

If you are going to shell out $1.7 million to a man to improve your football program, if the best he can do is at least leave some talent behind for the next HC, then I'll take that.

We will be able to sign someone that actually deserves 1.7-2 million dollars. Croom was a CAREER ASSISTANT COACH. He wasn't someone who had ever been a coordinator for more than a couple of years. I know there is someone out there that is willing to take a 1 million dollar raise to coach in the SEC. Most people would love the opportunity to coach in a premier conference in college football. I am not saying that we will go out and get Mike Leach or anything but we should at least have someone like Tulsa's head coach or even Kiffin to look at the job. Then you have all the assistants like Muschamp that are up and coming that want to be a head coach. They might look at our job as a stepping stone to get to a school like Texas, Oklahoma, or Alabama but who cares if we are winning.

Keep a ****** coach for the recruiting class he's got "committed" to us? Have you ever even considered that if we actually hired a good coach, he'd most likely be able to keep most of those recruits (not to mention that Crxxm will lose several himself due to the ****** season he's having - he's already lost the best WR in the state who was committed to us, but backed out of it saying "they just can't throw the ball at MSU").

....maybe Conner, what about it is going to help us where we need the most help(offense)? This class is loaded with defensive players. And if we're worried about losing Russell, why should we be? Do we not all realize that this staff will just ruin him? What good is he to us then?

If we hire a good coach, why would you just assume Croom's recruits leave all of a sudden? And who really cares if they do? The problem is Croom. Get rid of him, and I don't care who bails. Let the next competent coach go out and recruit.

You are a really dumb asshat.
