Just a few years ago seemed like the program was on the right track.

Yea, it was exciting, thought the culture was right built that program up from nothing, still say the youth football program has a lot to do with the attitude in the high school programs at both schools. But hey, who am I to judge.

i played at warren county from 2001-2004 and my teams would have never quit we had rough patches and we fought together as a team through them and we ended up with first winning seasons in a long time in 2003 and 2004 goes to show how things have changed since then

Culture of winning and losing and total program is established from the top First, just need a coach who establishes the hammer! And everyone below follows suit. lots of good athletes in Warren County , not the problem.

If the game was a 1 seed against an 8 seed and it was going to be 60-0 game, why risk injury to play to get beat in the ground. The playoff system in Virginia needs to be revamped to eliminate this type of thing from happening.

while I may not agree with how the playoff system is, its still a playoff game, whether you get beat 60-0 remains to be seen, that's why you play the game, not saying that Warren would have won by any means.

I agree with your post, but some administrators don't want "the hammer." That is part of the problem here. Their only concern is not getting phone calls from parents. The "hammer" involves making people uncomfortable and changing old ways of doing things.

If the higher ups don’t believe they will win, then the kids will feel the same way in school, but there again, it starts in youth as well, if Johnny’s dad pulls him off a team and starts his own team, and tells lil Johnny that he is star and that the other team isn’t using him correctly, then lil Johnny will have that attitude once he hits school ball. That’s what has happened, I’ve seen it first hand, and that’s why the programs aren’t going anywhere, they reached their peak about 5-7 years ago

Wow. Life is going to be bumpy for those kids(just like it is for all of us at times) and I fear they aren't going handle the adversity of everyday adult life. I would wager that there will come a day when the player they interviewed does regret his decision.

Three years from now this might be the best thing that has happened to their program. Sometimes it takes a hard reset to get rid of the ones who aren't committed to their teammates. But it could also go the other way and be tough to rebound from. Unfortunately, we are at at juncture where it takes numbers to survive. I hope those kids that stuck around(especially the QB) build something special for their school and for themselves.

After reading the "other side of the story" I'm still siding with the coach. The speech the coach gave after the game is a speech I'm sure each one of us have had before or heard of before. So it's not like this was some "oh I can't believe the coach said that after a loss" type of speech. I've heard of worse things from "successful" programs. So I guess if you are not winning it gets magnified?

I'm sided with the coach as well, I mean if you were getting your feelings hurt all season, why wait until the week of the playoffs to quit? Kids from front royal would give anything to have 1 more week, well apparently not these soft *** kids.
