Was it just me or did Dan ( or somebody) have 2 major WTF's Sat night?

WTF was he thinking in putting fumble fingers-lazy foot Elliot back to return kicks...right after he had just fumbled!!!????

WTF was he thinking with the Les Miles Clock management scheme when he almost let the clock run out before we could kick a field goal to tie?

On number 1, I agree. Elliot just doesn't have it. Make him a ST defender or something, he just doesn't have it anymore. I don't think he's physical enough for football honestly.

On number 2, not sure what else Mullen could have done. We had no timeouts and Relf didn't get the first down.</p>

[list type=decimal][*]Because Micheal Carr doesn't block. They put Elliot in there to block only. I am perfectly fine with them putting in Elliot.
[*]Because we didn't have any timeouts. I don't have a problem - we ran the clock down perfectly.

Relf needs to throw that one through the uprights if no one is open. If he is going to run it needs to be to the sideline. From what I remember, he tried to turn up field to avoid defenders.

if he gets it, clock stops, we down it with about 20 seconds left. That's time to run 2 plays and then kick the FG.

Did you see the kickoff return where Carr actually made the tackle? He was STANDING out in space with his thumb up his *** and the returner ran right up his back and went down.

1. I was real curious why Bumphis was taken out on the kickoffs. But I would keep Elliott in to make a nice lead block. He opened a few holes for Ballard on the offensive side of the ball
2. Did not see a big deal with the FG thought it was run without a hitch. Had DM tried to run another play and then get the FG unit out there with 10 seconds left, then yes I would openly complain

We've got more players that can return kicks than Elliott or Carr.......what happened to Langston? I thought he was doing a fair job returning kicks. Elliott cant block if they kick to his side of the field.....knowing Elliot, even if he was blocking he'd trip over a blade of grass or his own feet!!!!!

I put the last down on the coaches.......you tell Relf do not run it!!!!!! Throw it away if nobody is open!!!!!! Too little time left to run regardless of how much you think you can get the first down...... Luckily we got the kick off in time, cause that was freakin close.

Time management on the last 4th Q drive was good. I was more perplexed with time management when we were down by 10. Thought we should have been hurrying more.

The WTF of the game has to be the play calling inside the 15 yard line when we were down by 3. We should have tried harder for a touchdown instead of playing conservatively for a FG.

true....I am not a coach, but I don't think you run period inside the red zone with no time outs and needing a score with less than a minute left.....we had been passing well all night (for the first time all year). Give your receivers a chance to make a play......

We had plenty of time there at the end for the FG. Sure it was rushed, but you practice that for a reason. I was more concerned on the previous possession. Seems like we could have saved a little time there.

And for everyone asking why we ran so much instead of passing at the end - realize we were without our leading receivers for the game (Bumphis orSmith).Reallythe only WR we had left was Clark, Heavens, and Carr. We just didn't have muchof a passing threat with those guys on a short field.

At this point Arky was blitzing and getting penetration to relf. The best way to beat a blitz is with delayed runs or screens. Relf did have a better game than any i have seen in the past, but i still would not want to put a game in his hands throwing the ball. All we needed was to get a fg to tie and that was what dan was playing for at that point anyway. Also, I'd like to know what diaz is planning on doing this week to teach his secondary how to play coverage and tackle. The last 2 games we have sucked at the basics and allowed too many big pass plays.

A play like that is generally easier as far as not getting sacked and not throwing an INT goes. We needed to be more aggressive in going for the win when the win was within our grasp.

And...I did not realize we were without our 2 best receivers at that point. Still, I like an out route to Hanrahan in that situation. Maybe a play action to him like we did when we converted that 4th down earlier in the game.

Or throw it to Perkins. He is a pretty good receiver.

I thought the clock management was fine...we had :20 to the field goal unit out and kick it and we kicked it with :04. I'm sure was getting them ready the entire time to run out there. I thought the clock management was great. Perfectly executed. Special Teams has gotten better and better each game.

We were running the ball with a few minutes left, and we were chewing up some clock, but we were snapping the ball with about 25 seconds on the play clock each time. We scored with 2.5 minutes on the clock. I felt like with some better clock management, we could have left a minute or less on the clock, and possibly prevented AR from kicking the field goal.
