on youtube. He was a smart little quarterback. All we need is someone with his brain in a QB with SEC size and ability.

I hate to bust on him since he was a walk-on, but he was a darn good walk-on.

Also, we did a lot of creative things with our offense when Dan first arrived. I want to see the wishbone come back in goal line situations! Especially with Dak.

I agree with the wrinkles Dan ran the 1st year

Wish he would do more of those things. Should have been bowling first year.

Last year against USCe we should have run it from the 4 yard line with Relf, Ballard, and company.

I walked past Lee in the library once. He was easily the same height as me and I'm not tall enough for rugby. I wanted to give the poor guy a hug for enduring SEC defenses and living to tell about it.

He's a legit 5'9". Didn't we use the wishbone formation on the final play of the Auburn game in 2011?

I shook his hand during a Dawg walk in '09 and was shocked to see that he was the same height as me. I'm pretty short...too short to play football in the SEC. I appreciate him as a former player, but his memory reminds me of how glad I am that we have someone in place that understands how important recruiting that position is to success.

Thats what I was thinking.

I liked Tyson Lee. Thought he was football smart. Seemed to be confident and a leader. Not timid about making decisions.

It might have been unwise not to pitch to Dixon vs LSU in 2009, but he did have an opening in the LOS to squirt through. But then Chad Jones got there quicker than Lee did.

The tiny turnover machine had a height disadvantage. Would like to have seen him at 6-2 to 6-4.

we really should have. one different play call against LSU on the goal line or a few less turnovers against Houston and we would have been.

I still blame that Houston loss on that phantom illegal forward pass that was disproved in replay. If that call isn't made, we go up two scores to start the second half and cruise to victory.

Something that i also remember from that season is that it seemed to me that most of his INTs came when the receivers bobbled the ball into the defenders hands. That happened a lot to the poor little guy.

I agree on the phantom illegal forward pass. that was a terrible call, but it happened. and i don't blame tyson at all for bobbled passes. he was doing the best with what he was given. poor receivers and young receivers and just not the size. guy had a heck of a heart and passion for the game and great brain for a qb.

i do remember us fumbling the ball all over the place in that game though. that is one thing that ticks me off. (too many bad memories of running laps anytime the ball touched the ground back in the day), the soft torbush defense that let us get nickled and dimed all the way down the field, and Dixon's amazing TD run carrying all those guys.

That carry is among the best I have ever seen. However, if you want to talk games where fumbles cost us the W, look no further than GT.

that game also made me sick to my stomach. I can tolerate losses when the team is just better than us and we played a great game, but i didn't like watching us get beat because we fumbled the ball and let a qb known for his running throw all over us. It's interesting looking back and seeing how far Mullen took the team from one year to the next. we were very close in 09 to a bowl and got us to that 8-4 and a bowl that next year. now we just need to step up to the big boys and get a 9-3 or a 10-2 year.

Turnovers cost us the LSU game that year too. We were *this* close to winning 8 or 9 games in Mullen's first year. And it's not homerism to say so. Even with Torbush's crappy D we could have made it happen.

That's when I knew we'd be okay - I think we'll be bowling this year for sure. Hopefully it's in January.

I wish his brain woulda put enough lob on the ball to hit a wide open marcus green in the back of the endzone of the 09ish LSU game.....instead he got stuffed by CJ..... the only CB in the endzone.

No WB on GL situations. I want to see trips to one side running combo routes and setting picks for easy bootlegs,toss-sweeps, and passes to the LOMAH.

Ever had a nightmare where someone was chasing you and it's like you're running in quick sand? That's how I remember Mark Melichar chasing Chad Jones as the last hope on that punt return TD except the roles were swapped. Melichar was in quick sand. I'll never forget that image. Still wake up in a cold sweat over that one.
