Way OT: Anybody else having catfishing attempts on facebook?

Got a friend request from some blonde who just joined on January 24. Just pictures and inane status updates. All her friends are dudes.

I'm wondering if there's going to be a spate of this type of crap ever since the Teo story came to light.

I've seen that for a few years now. Probably more of a fraud than a prank.

This is probably not a catfisher but instead an attempt to get you to download malware.

Anyone see the show on MTV...where a guy from Jackson, was in a "relationship" over facebook? He called up Nev, come to find out the guy met his "love" on a transgender dating website...the show went downhill from there.

Probably so, but I did find the angle of this one interesting. Especially changing 'her' profile pic to several different yet similar looking blondes on 'her' first day on facebook.

I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to facebook requests. Someone claimed to be in my high school class and I never even heard of her. Some of the other people in my class were commenting about how nobody remembers her and she doesn't appear in the yearbook. Most of them friended her anyways.
