but there's a slight possibility that we could be 8-1 when Alabama rolls into town in November.... What say ye?

There currently looks to be very little competition for Gameday.

Best matchups (obviously could change based on how teams do):
Oregon @ Stanford is probably the best competition
Texas @ Mizzou
Tenn @ Ark (not likely)
Auburn @ UGA (not likely)
Miami @ FSU
A+M @ K-State (not likely)</p>

Even if we're 7-2, we'd have a shot at hosting gameday. The schedule for that day isn't very strong.

Then again, I hope Mullen makes our team take it one game at a time... leave the outlandish predictions to ***-clowns like myself.

that 8-1 and 7-2.... is actually really possible... I can't believe I'm saying that... I can't commit to any prediction though... as impressed as I have been with Mullen's program, this season is very important and I'm starting to get a little anxious... I really have no idea where the season will end up going.

and south carolina come to starkville unbeaten, i beleive this would be a better opportunity with the national schedule that week. Or our only loss be a close one to lsu with previously stated scenario

I was talking to a Bammer last night and they are worried about STATE and think we will be 8-4 at a minimum next season...

I'd be all for it IF it would help ESPN, other news outlets, nationwide football fans, etc. finally delineate State and Ole Miss.....but that's just me.

disappointed I'm afraid. We will lose to LSU like we always do and we play UGA @ UGA & AU @ AU. I know Mullen is the greatest thing since sliced bread n all, but we lost our 2 best offensive lineman, one of those a 1st round pick that plays the most important position on the team. We're also replacing our entire LB corps & defensive coordinator. I hope like hell I'm wrong, but I see 7-2 at the very best, with 6-3 the more realistic possibility at that point in the season. This team should be pretty good, but 7-5 (maybe 8-4) is where this team will more than likely finish. And honestly, I don't see how anyone could be too disappointed in that kind of a season.

Losing two starters on the O LIne is the bad thing. Not the position. In a spread offense is there a blind side? The blind side is only a problem with drop back passes and when did we ever do that last season? Relf is already 6 to 10 yard back. He sees everything. Losing Sherrod is bad because he is a good lineman but if he playe right tackle it would be just as bad. We beat auburn. They lost 17 starters off a team that would have been six and six if it wasn't for a rented mule.

and why is LSU already penciled in as a L? They lost a ton of playmakers on Defense and still have an inadequate qb and a grass eating idiot of a coach. You could takesomething out of the primate section from the Audobon Zoo, hand it a clipboard, and win 7 games a year with that talent. It would not surprise me to see a pick em line when this game comes on Sept. 15. LSUs offense is horrendous and theyhave a new offense with adumbass qb to learn it. Defense has a bunch of new starters. Last year they stacked the box against us because we had no passing threat at all last year early in the season.

As for the others on the schedule prior to Bama, we could slip up one time, but with the improvement with Relf, Ballard, and Perkins to close out the season I do not see us losing any of those games. Bama and Arkansas appear to be the two most difficult games on the schedule to me.</p>

You want a prediction? 6-3 is what I'm going with. Losses vs. LSU, at UGA, and vs. USC.

What I clearly stated in the opening post, is that there is a "SLIGHT" possibility that this may happen.

Could we win at Auburn? Not only did Croom do it, but ever bettor in America had already put money onus. We'll be favored.
Could we beat LSU at home this year? Probably not, but I think we'll have as good of a shot as we did against Auburn last year. We'll be a couple of points underdogs
Could we go to UGA and win? Yes. We'll probably be a pick'em or slight underdog.
Could we beat USC at home? Yes. We'll probably be a pick'em or slight underdog.

I'm counting Memphis, UK, UAB, UT Martin, and LaTech as wins. UK on the road could be tricky too....</p>

for too long or do you just see it that way with our returning talent and what other teams will have. <div>
</div><div>My optimistic prediction = 9-3 (we'd need to beat a SECW opponent besides OM to make this happen)</div><div>
</div><div>My pessimistic prediction = 6-6</div><div>
</div><div>Frankly, I just hope the wheels don't fall off.</div>

any one of their consistently top 5 recruiting classes is somewhat different from what we ms schools have to deal with in replacing good players. miles is an idiot but and that imo translates to losing at least a game or two he shouldn't but he's got good assistants an lsu is picked by many to win the nat'l chp this year if i'm not mistaken. msu may beat lsu but i would suggest it unlikely that anybody outside of the msu faithful will put money on it evenup. personally i think this will be an interesting year for msu. could go well or not so well. uga should be significantly better this yr, lsu should be (sort of scary to contemplate). bama is bama and that sob in little rock may be scum but he can coach. aub lost a lot but they've recruited ($) really well for 2 yrs and i think malzhan may be the real deal. don't know who else ya'll play from the east but usc & fla should be good. the sec is just murder and you can have a really good team and still lose 5 games.

to win a national championship... They are always tops because of the talent they have and the way the talent is supposed to play but with Les running the show, he seems to get a lot "Les" from his talent than he should. He can basically pick who he wants and still has to pull games out of his *** every season.

There are plenty of question marks for me to say that I think we will struggle in some games. 7 wins is going to be tough.

lsux buddies a steak cause i bet him miles would be fired by now and would never beat saban. he'll prob lose one he shouldn't and if he weren't in the sec this would mean he'd never have a shot at the NC, but he did win one and they look to be loaded again. plus i think most of the experts picking them are still factoring in the les factor and still think they can win it all.

if you think any State fan will be "severly disappointed" about being 7-2 or 6-3 after 9 games then you are obviously not a long time fan

pull a few more out of his *** this season. I'm just hoping its not in Starkville. Beating them that early in the season could (should) springboard our team onto a special season. I see that game as a make or break for an decent season or a great season. Thats the "Hump" game for Mullen this year IMO.

We will be a solid football team. Yes we are inexperienced on the LB position and we did lose 2 OL. Our new center should at least be able to snap the ball to Relf's waist, that could only help our passing game. Our LB coach will have the players ready to go. We are shaping up to have a hell of a year, imo.</p>
