I notice we are #2 in the country. What non-SEC team has the toughest schedule?

ESPN FPI has the 11 toughest schedules in the country in the SEC and is also accused of having SEC bias.

That's always going to be the case no matter how many years we wait to fire a bad coach. Mississippi State isn't an easy place to win big. But Sherrill, Mullen and Leach proved you can win here. And if you're a younger coach looking to move up, Mullen proved you can move up to an elite job. Any prospective coaches will look at it the same as you or I would. Moorhead, Arnett and Lebby were idiots who were in over their heads.
Different eras for those guys. One year with no players and no NIL isn't much to go one, but you were saying the same about Selmon a couple months ago too and you've been proven incorrect. We'll see what happens this season. I'm not concerned with last season but there's no excuse for not winning 4/5 games this year IMO. I expect 5 myself but the schedule is rough. He needs to win every OOC game and a conference game or two. We'll know a lot about our coach and program after this season.

The reality is like it or not the college football world has been turned upside down since then.
It's changed. But it's changed for everyone. The relative position of most all schools isn't much different than it was before. Most of our problems have been self inflicted, plus the tragedy of Leach dying suddenly.

We're in a pretty wild cycle of playing UGA almost every year & every non-con team we play is in the midst of being the best they've been in years.

We got the uptick of both Arizona & Arizona State, we caught WV years ago at their peak, we caught Kansas State on a good run, etc

I realize the struggles to predict who will be good. Afterall it was really a 50/50 shot between OU & TX who would be good first, but giving us UGA every year absurd.

What I find amusing is that we're complaining about our coach and our record, yet when you look at the bottom of this list, you'll find Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.

SEC has absolutely bent us over and torn us a new one with no lube with the schedules for 2024 and 2025. And, as you say, it's uncanny how when a team comes on our schedule they suddenly get good and when the go off they get worse. We finally lost Bama, LSU & Auburn and they go a combined 12-12, while teams we did play went 41-23.

How many of the good players off of the 2014 team that played for us the next year do you think we would be able to keep in today's version of college football ?
Well I wouldn’t be proposing firing the coach if he had performed like the 2014 team did. I don’t understand the point you are trying to make? I don’t give a **** who leaves when we fire Lebby. Just like I didn’t care if the recruiting class that Arnett was hired to protect stayed or not. That turned out real good for us.

Do you think Prescott, Simmons, Jones etc etc etc would finish their careers at State in today's version of college football ? I have no opinion or care for Lebby at all but until somebody somehow injects at least some sanity back into college football what has always been an uphill battle for us has become Mount Everest and our HC job cannot be very highly coveted at this point.

I hope Salmon, Keenum or whoever is the conference's ear on this issue. We need Vandy, UK, Ark, MO, the barn, UM, USCe and OU in 2026.

Best guess at 2026 schedule. UMiss, A&M, Ark, Bama, LSU & Auburn almost for sure. Probably Okie, Vandy & Kentucky.

Who knows what they would do now…. But I feel like Prescott, Simmons and jones wouldn’t sign up to play at state now under Lebby.

We HAVE to have a pass rush. Even if statistically we are the same defensively, I would consider it a huge improvement if we actually pressured the QB even a little. Last year being forced to watch our defense violated the Geneva Convention.
I think the outside DE/OLB we brought in should help there.
