We are short, skinny and weak

Short guards are a major problem. Skinny weak 4s are useless.
The problem is that the players can’t score, distribute or defend, guards and frontcourt players alike. Most are also slow and play without any cohesion. Being tall, stout and strong doesn’t matter as much as having actual talent, which they mostly all lack.

Circling back to GG, he underperformed here and at Nebby, and even if his current production at Temple isn’t considered he would easily be the best player on this team. This isn’t a credit to him, but a trashing of everyone else.

And in no world is JMiss better than DSimpson except the one where his only brief value was as Ace Bait. Pike should encourage him to play for Tennessee Tech next year, as bench depth if he’s even good enough for that.

The roster is terrible and not simply for size reasons. Opposing players are much better at every starting and bench spot. Every one.

We do look very small vs IL

Doesn’t help that Pike encourages very generous height listings so guys are usually 2 inches shorter than listed. Yes, other programs do it but we are at the extreme.

No way Nwuli, Buchanan, Dortch, Ogbole are at their listed heights. And others.

It is ridiculous, in the same pattern as continuous sellouts. The other day he said Buchanan was 6’7. I bet 6’3 and a half in bare feet. Maybe.

Plenty of programs do this, but yea, Buchanan’s seems to be one of the worst Rutgers has done.

But we do it much worse

Cliff was 6-9 not 6-11
Ace was 6.7.5 as measured by nba not 6-10
Caleb was not 6-7 as like claimed. He’s 6-5
Ron was not 6-6. He’s 6.4.5 per nba

and then Dortch is not 6-9, no way Nwuli is the listed height or Buchanan

just freaking list their real heights!

Colleges measure players with their shoes on, the NBA measures with bare feet

Untrue. NBA requires barefoot which is the only way to measure height like in the doctors office

NCAA doesn’t require either way so each college chooses.

some colleges choose barefoot and other colleges, like RU, make the stupid decision to list playing height like with shoes.

Either way, RU is one of the worst offenders.

in the Like area I’ve seen so many of our guys standing right next to the other team’s players and are shorter. Yet we list them as taller.

So stupid

I remember Cliff standing next to some Temple kid listed 6-10 and was easily 1-2 inches taller than 6-11 Cliff.

it’s a Pike thing to exaggerate everything from heights to “off season improvement”

It doesn't take a tape measure to look at Oregon and see how much taller than our team; or when Mississippi St. hit the court (at the Pru) they had multiple players (especially their starting center) who were much taller than Cliff - and it turned out that way. This season is done; the question is - can we get a Center who can stay on the court for 30 min and looks the part. And a starting SF & PF; a lot to get without a lot of dollars to spend versus the competition.

Agreed. Maybe a 2 game post season as best.

The only things that matter to me this season is that we look competitive, the underclassmen develop, no quit and we establish a core good enough where we can go shopping for a few pieces that we can slot into a tourney team next season - I think we’ll have a better financial situation next year, ya know, with us actually having an AD and President during portal season.

Pike isn’t fooling opponents with this nonsense.

On a lighter note announcers for the Knights in the 70s frequently mentioned that Hollis Copeland was 6’5” but played taller. He had a small head! He and Abdel Anderson stood almost shoulder to shoulder and Abdel was 6’7”.

This is not to say that Pike (or other coaches) don't pad the measurements but in terms of height......would think that measuring how tall a player is traditionally from feet to the top of their head is not as valuable in basketball as measuring their overall reach (shoulder height plus arm length) plus how high they can jump.

We smell bad. We dress poorly. We're rude. We're not so bright. We 're gullible. We're greedy and vain. We're impatient and intolerant. We're confused and misled. We talk too loud. We're bad at parking. We're eating the wrong foods. We've got flaky skin. We've got problems ..and one of the least of 'em is that the college basketball team we root for isn't very good most of the time.
