careful, that's a discussion no one wants to have
True but I think it's fair game to point out when they openly brag about it. There is no reason why Maryland should lose more than 3 games most years with the talent they have on the roster.

Penn State offense may not be great but it still ranked 10th in scoring at 38.9 points per game.

I see they get a couple of long, multiple play TD drives a game. With that defense, they aren't forced to consistently march down the field. Iowa had 4 TO's. Ill. had 5 TO's.

If we don't get any short fields against PSU, 2 TD's might be all that's needed against us. Don't give PSU the short fields and we have a chance to make them sweat.

Against Indiana, I literally thought I was watching Hackenburg with all of those throws to the rb out wide.

In the early part of the season, Maryland's offense looked fast and they scored lots of points, while ours was slow(er) and much more deliberate (no surprise, there). It made me think that this was the year that Maryland was going to move out of "middle of the pack" teams in the B1G and start flirting with a 9-10 win season. But, as was evidenced in the game this past Saturday against Northwestern, so much of the success of any given season has to do with WHEN you play teams. If they put up impressive numbers against sub-par teams and start falling apart against better ones, well .. that possible 9-10 win season starts looking much more like a 5-6 win season.

I think that Maryland *can* win another game (not against us, of course!) but that has to do with them scoring points with a talented QB and WR corps. The unsportsmanlike penalties and other bone-headed mistakes, however, will keep them grounded. We can definitely beat them in the final week of the season. I just hope we're not too banged-up by the time we play.

Definitely overrated, IMHO, especially around here.
It's called the wandering eye phenomenon-like the person who has a really great girlfriend/boyfriend, and they are constantly gazing across the room thinking someone else is more attractive, when they don't realize the one they have is fantastic. Common problem with fandom. Fans tend to focus on the faults of their team and overlook bigger faults of other teams and find something attractive in them.

Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium is a tough place for road teams. It’s been called “Where Top-5 Teams Go To Die”. Winning there will take a superb effort. Let’s hope we haven’t played our best ball yet.
They are definitely formidable at home. Took a quick look, and interesting that they lost at Kinnick in the past 2 years to:

2022- Iowa State 4-8 (rivalry game)
2022- Nebraska 4-8
2023- a mediocre Minnesota

Maybe they don't get as amped up for "lesser" teams.

No. Recruiting is recruiting. It just depends on what Maryland team decides to show up. As I said, I think we have a good chance this year, but our fans have been penciling this game in as a possible win for two years now and we have been embarrassed.
They have been in disarray, and maybe more now with their co-OC sidelined with a DUI and their other co-OC distracted by sign-stealing drama (he has been mentioned several times as receiving info from Stalions when he was at Michigan).

Actually all 3 of those are huge rivalry games for Iowa. They call Iowa/Minny/Wiscy and Nebraska "The Little 4."

They are very, VERY good at home, no doubt, BUT I'd say getting this at noon or 3:30 would be a big plus for our side.

PSU isn't bad on offense. They're just not explosive. They're more of a classic run first big ten offense.
I believe they have the least "explosive "offense in the nation (fewest "chunk" plays). At least as of a week ago they did (most of the B1G, us including, were ranked below 100).

I think this year there is a legit shot given how they have played the last two games, but again, I have been hearing about a potential W against them for two years now and they have made us look silly.

It's mettle, boy genius. And altrok is an internet station- available across the world, not just Lincroft. You throw around the "r" insult an awful lot. Maybe it's defensive.
hahaha I'll use metal for the hardened reference which you clearly were not smart enough to get. I guess you're just not quick enough any longer or not up to date on changing references. Dig and maybe you'll see the usage, hint it's on tv.

Maybe you are retarded, I don't know

You fit Lincroft well

actually it's quite the opposite as people don't think highly of us or our record as we're barely receiving votes and tulane, jmu, liberty even bc have but not us. So it's not the 'miserables' here. Now ON HERE, people have an inflated opinion of our team so you got right and wrong
Which poll shows BC receiving votes at 5-3 following their convincing 21-14 home win over UConn?

my mistake as I read it quickly but the others and meaning is not refutable. You want to focus on one item that was wrong instead of the overall picture.

it's actually people like you and some of the other pollyanas that make this board miserable. You don't allow nor accept reasonable discussion. you suck plainly speaking and your end of season suggestion just shows how much of a douche you really are
other than the BC mistake, where is this wrong?

bingo it's not, you guys need some persepective. No one outside this board respects us and we ARE an afterthought. We have not beaten anyone, done nothing to warrant any considerations, haven't even looked dominant against low level BIG comp but you guys think we deserve votes

nuts

I don't think it has anything to do with respect. Has more to do with who we played. There's only a few 6-2 teams who are ranked and they all have better wins than us. Iowa is 6-2 and isn't ranked. Another example would be UNC who isn't ranked.

Also we were pretty dominant against NW and Indiana. MSU was a funny game played in a monsoon.

Nobody in the conference has looked dominant besides Michigan. OSU hasn't exactly blown anyone out. PSU struggled against Indiana.

I expected four wins this year based on the way we ended the season last year. I am very pleased with six wins and hats off to Schiano for earning a bowl in year 4, I think on target for rebuilding. The RU defense is much better than I expected and is the strength of the team. I'd be thrilled with another win but don't think it will be easy as all remaining teams are better than any we beat with two in the Wisc range, maybe not quite, and two Top 10. I think the rest of the way we will see stacked boxes so we will need to air it out, which is not our strength. Another W would be gravy.

I actually wasn’t commenting on the rest of your post so I don’t recall what the intended message was.

Considering the hats off to Hafley string, I just thought it necessary to clarify that no reasonable person, even at a glance could be more impressed by BC’s season than ours. The ACC is absolute garbage and 4 of their 5 wins includes UConn, Holy Cross, Army, VA. They lost to Northern Illinois!

Iowa is a team that doesn’t beat itself. Kirk Ferentz is 188-115 at Iowa.
Surprisingly, Iowa has but one NJ guy on their roster … I guess that means no more (Newark NJ) Verducci’s on the Hawkeyes staff.
Frank Verducci is at Nebraska.

Yeah, it seemed like they always had a few NJ guys out there.
Akrum Wadley from Newark was a good RB for Iowa. Never got drafted or caught on in any pro league.

Many, many years ago, when sitting in a high school class with a bit of a meat head substitute teacher, he queried the class- anyone here going to go play football at Iowa? The guys in the class all looked at each other and were like WTF? Our school was not exactly a hotbed of football recruiting back then.

Our best chance is against Iowa and it’s defense against defense. If we don’t make any mistake, we should win since we have more of a running game. We can beat Maryland but not a given.
Turns out Iowas OCs last game is against us. He will try to pull out all the stops.

Randolph (NJ) HS’s Tariq Holman played cornerback at Iowa.
Holman picked off Tom Brady twice in a single game.
I believe Holman is still a NJ high school football coach.

Boy, that sounds defensive!
no it's realistic but what you and the pandas here don't get is that it's factual

you guys have your panties in a wad over no one respecting us outside this board and even more upset that some of our fans are realistic

You guys may jump from bridges if we go 0-4 to close the season which is very real possibility

Looks like that list is from early 2000s and forward, or some such timeframe. Or maybe only Ferentz's all time recruits from NJ since he's been the HC since 1999.

Diaco from Grp 1 Cedar Grove (1991) is one that's not on the list.
At the top of the list it says since 2000. That list seems incomplete because it doesn't mention former Jets RB Shonn Greene who was from Winslow Twp.
Here's a different list.
