The comments speak volumes about why I absolutely cannot stand the bandwagon fanbase that is Alabama. It's no secret that MSU hasn't had the long standing success of other SEC schools, but I would put our fans up there with anyone... especially in the wake of the #webelieve movement.
Would Alabama have the number of sidewalk, wal-mart alum if our records were identical? Probably not. So what shows the greater test of character?

Continue to believe people. Good things will come.

One of the best replies was from a State fan. Basically, the gist of the post was that "believing" is not the same as expecting to beat Bama. Rather, it's a belief in your university, the football team, and everything they stand for.

The truth is, as long as Saban is at Bama we will probably lose 95% of the time. However, so will everyone else.

Now let's beat Johnny Football.

petty and classless... just move on, Bammers... jeesh.

A very appropriate description of a very, very large portion of your fanbase (not you however). I know, I live down here in Lower Alabama among them.

Be careful about posting anything negative about the "We Believe" saying. I agree it sounds high schoolish and too cheesy but people that like making home-made signs will attack you.

Maybe I wasn't clear but I was not criticizing the "We Believe" Campaign, rather I was endorsing it. I really liked what the State fan had to say with "believing is more than thinking you will beat Bama".

It may sound cheesy to outsiders but I think it was and still is a great idea.

It is funny how they say we vandalized their statues. Yet the Paul Byrant statue still stands. You can't say that about the trees at Toomers Corner.

I guess if I was one left hook away from my 4th ex-wife...

...and most of my dinners consisted of slim jims, vending machine cheese, and a busch heavy tall boy, I'd probably take to an ***-kicking football team to help me feel better about myself, too.

I liked this response to the "Mississippi is 50th in education and 1st in obesity" line from the post:

"Yeah but you’re 3rd in obesity, 4th in poverty. That’s like being a taller midget."

Again, when your whole life is based on whether you have a winning football team, then you can expect that kind of talk from a bunch of redneck nobodies. They are nothing (talking about these fans) and they will always be nothing, so the only thing they have to cling to is a winning football team. The university has shown that it will go to any length to maintain that winning tradition, whether it is cheating on a grand scale or paying a very good coach an ungodly amount of money. What will get
saban is the year end and year out expectations. He will finally burn out. Somebody, like Florida or Tennessee will challenge him. It is on the horizon. When he doesn't win a championship every year, no matter if it is realixtic or not, the pressure will mount and burn out will come. No man can stand up to that. This is not the bear era, where they can just go out and recruit ever how many kids they want because they have the money to offer as many scholarships as they want. There are just so many they can sign, they cannot sign them all

Putting the t-shirt on the Bear statue was pretty arrogant (and stupid). After being totally impotent against their first and second strings, i'm not surprised about the backlash.

Alabama is the successful program that they are today because of..one man, Nick Saban. This individual had nothing to do with their school previous to his coaching tenure. Just because they are " Alabama" doesn't mean that winning is a given right or that it's something inherent to their name, nature, or state. Their days in the sun will end at some point. They have already forgotten how things were before Saban arrived, and when he is gone, you will see a fan base in disarray. They will be knocked down a notch or two. We will see they're true colors.

Well the issue is that when you put a Nick Saban, probably the best coach in college football, together with a school like Bama with tremendous resources, fan support and tradition its essentially a "perfect storm" type situation. Its already been shown that goober coaches like DuBose and Shula can still have 10 win type seasons at Bama even if they can't do it consistently. Heck, I'm convinced that if I walked in as the head coach there today I could probably at least break even and I've never coached a day in my life. Now putting a truly competent coach in there like Saban it REALLY puts them in a position of strength.

I agree ... that was over the line. I suspect that even most of us, MSU fans, have a lot of respect for the Bear's coaching ability and tradition. Whether he was a cheater is notwithstanding. Wish we hadn't done that ... it had to have the effect of stirring the hornet's nest.

Not acting like babies, just classless a**holes....

I just had to post this story on this site. It's off a Alabama website..Bunch of whining little babies...

OK bama jerks. Your team won the game. Congratulations. I guess that isn't enough for you. You gotta act like complete jackasses because how dare MS State ever publically believe they had a chance against 'us'. And characterizing putting a T-shirt on a statue 'vandalism' is past ridiculous. Wow.

Well their campus looked like a flea market, the stands were boring during the pregame, and the fans were a bunch of frat boy douchebags with long hair. Their stadium was okay, but quieter then I thought it would have been. I thought it was going to be awesome to go to a game, but really it was pretty crappy. I like our fans energy better. Probably because 90% of the people in our stands went to State or is with a family/friend that went to State.
I asked my wife at halftime if she thinks anyone in the stands knew the Alabama Alma Mater and she said, "Hell no, most of these ******** didn't even go here!" I thought it was funny. She was right, the stands were totally quiet during the playing of the alma mater.
