We have defensive issues- but our Croom-style offense is killing us

offense vs Man D- we set ball screens constantly, looking to penetrate or move the ball to the wing to pass into the post. THATS ALL WE DO.<div>
</div><div>offense vs zone- we pass the ball around the perimeter, looking to penetrate off a ball screen- usually settling for a long range 3-ball with the shot clock running down- and thats all we do</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>we have struggled on offense quite a bit the last 6 games- sans UPig-. Teams are making it much tougher for us on all the ball screens- forcing us farther away from the basket- giving the defense more time to rotate and help. Dee is struggling, but he is also having to expend a helluva lot of energy because of the way we are being defended. And that is definitely causing some of his struggles.</div><div>
</div><div>Vs zone- until we start getting the ball into the middle of it and work the high/low game- this team is going to struggle alot. We have got to get the ball to Sidney/Moultrie in the FT- to the top of the key area- and let them work it down inside to the other as well as kick it to the wings and corners for better looks at the basket. You beat a zone from inside-out or by penetration- not by shooting 25 foot 3-pointers</div><div>
</div><div>You 17'ers glad Rayvern is gone better recognize he was the reason people couldnt zone us- he made shots and also forced teams to stretch out that zone- creating lanes for others to penetrate or for us to move the ball quick enough for others to get shots.</div>

there's a better chance of that happening than there is of Stans coming up with an offensive gameplan that works.

It's baffling to me that our leading scorer is a 6-11 power forward and our 14th year head coach can't draw up an offensive set to get him any touches while we are struggling. I'll have to go back to the replay to make sure, but I'm almost positive that Arnett didn't touch the ball on offense for the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half. He didn't take a shot for sure. We've reverted back to the 3 point launching MSU team because we don't have a sophisticated enough offense to get the ball inside on an SEC defense. If only we could play Troy again and rack up 32 assists.

played poorly, but our D killed us last night. We let a mediocre team, at best, score WAY to many easy baskets. As terrible as the O played, it was good enough to win. The D, however, was horrible.

He statistically shoots as good asRavern... but shootsabout half asmuch.

But I agree, I'm sick of watching our offense. I don't know much about basketball but it's clear to even someone like mehow horrible our offensive strategy is. Just watch a good offensive team that doesn't depend onsharp shooting guards hitting 10-15 3s every night --- we're just so motionless. Depend on one guy to make everything click. And if thatone guy is struggling, we're dead.
