and it starts with a coach that's learning on the job. At this moment, he doesn't know how to manage a game. It's crazy to me that coaches suffer so bad at management of the game. Especially with a staff of other coaches - you think there would be someone in his ear giving him suggestions of how to play the rest of the game out.

I got looks from other fans when I was yelling when we were playing fast early in the 4th quarter. My voice cracked in the stands when we snapped the ball with 22 seconds left on the play clock with 2 minutes and change.

Can’t disagree, Coaching under pressure is a learning curve for most. He needs someone in his ear who he trust on making decision.
Funny thing is we are 4-4 and have a chance of winning a game or maybe two, the reason I think this is we aren’t getting blown out.

The 2 ridiculous penalties that turned 6 points into 14 loomed large. I had no doubt they were gonna bite us.

And we didn’t fair catch early in the 4th quarter and got stuffed, I knew it was over. The entire team just finds ways to blow it, and that is a tell tale sign your coach is a loser.

We’ve all seen teams over the years that don’t know how to win or maybe that just don’t have the talent to win. What I don’t think I’ve seen in 40 years is a team with such a phenomenally firm grasp of knowing how to lose.

Shapen played a nice game overall yesterday, but my gosh… he and Lebby are dynamic 1-2 punch when it comes to absolutely caving under pressure. It’s like they both need to be taken off the field on critical plays

Our approach to fair catching a kickoff was head scratching. Booth fair caught the final one on the 11 and didn’t run it.

We damned sure know how to lose!

I screamed "he outkicked the coverage" when the punt that was returned for a touchdown was at its highest point.

Our first punt in the 4th quarter was snapped with 15 seconds left on the play clock.

100% correct, and once again he takes zero owenership of it in the post game press conference saying the “players just need to execute and finish the game.”

The coach is supposed to put them in the best position to be successful and he did everything but that on every decision he made after we went up 17. It’s obvious he has zero clue how to manage a game. I’m not saying he needs to go because a coaching search this year would be brutal but there will be zero MSU fans in the stadium for UGA. Yesterday’s crowd was pretty pathetic but UGA at 1100 is going to be awful, and he’s brought it entirely on himself.

Only thing that saves him with the fan base this year is beating Ole Miss, which we don’t do. Stadium will be empty next year

^^^ and that was only because the ref stood over our snapper to give the defense time to sub. We would’ve gone faster if we could’ve.

Offense can still be aggressive while also being smart enough to RUN THE CLOCK WHEN UP MULTIPLE SCORES IN THE FOURTH QUARTER.

Also, smart coaches know that when you are the less talented team, you want to shorten the game. Especially when you’re winning.

Yes the offense only scored 1 TD but what in the HELL happened with the defense. We were pitching a damn good game then they hung 24 on us in Q4.

I just don’t understand. It’s basic football fundamentals. He doesn’t have to get totally away from his game plan. But, the lack of understanding….we’re up 17 in the fourth, we’re snapping this ball with 1 second on the play clock, is totally mind blowing! I’m still in shock.

The penalty on the field goal and this penalty lost us this game. Period.
Mistakes happen. -32 yards rushing in the 2nd half and giving up 24 points in the 4th quarter lost this game. The roughing passer penalty gave them a 1st down near midfield. That’s not a 24-point error.

I maybe thinking of another penalty. Basically went from a FG try to a TD because of a dumbass penalty.

He made a great move bringing help on the defensive side seeing his DC struggle. Now he needs to do the same for himself. Go get an OC to take pressure off of himself so he has time to think through other situations.
I will be satisfied this off-season if Selmon keeps Lebby but makes hin give up play calling duties. Lebby can still be the OC, just let your QB coach or someone call plays.

I would be even happier if they rigged Lebby up with a Dumbass Buzzer so someone could send him an electrical shock anytime he was about to do something boneheaded.

Also might be a good idea to make him play EA sports College Football 26 until he is able to take UMASS to an undefeated season, playing an SEC schedule.

I agree with everything you said. He will never learn to manage the game because he doesn’t think he’s doing anything wrong. The most vital mistake in the game was not using as much clock as possible on every snap when We went up by 17 , instead Lebby still wants to “go fast”. That game was WON and Lebby blew it.
