do any of you ever put cutoffs on games to say "this is the point I am leaving early". I brought my college roommate to the game Saturday and we both agreed that if it got 20+ - we were heading to the Veranda. Of course, it never got to that point.

My main problem Saturday was that the game was in question and I don't think anyone should have left. The other side is that the game was boring as crap. Scott Stricklin has always spoken about the gameday experience. I know part of it is the product on the field but for the past couple of years - we have struggled at that.

I guess it's a downer when you know going in that your coach is playing not to lose about 80% of the time. Makes for ****** games.

I usually stay for the whole game regardless. Sometimes against my family's request/ desire to leave.
Even During the darkest days of the Croom era. I might have left the game so mad that I didn't return for the following game. My take is that I have paid for this so I might as well use it.
However, this year (at 46 yrs old) I am much easier to convince to leave early if it is a night game and the game is not close. The drive back to Madison is getting harder.
LSU game I did leave on the int at the end of 3rd / first 4th.

I have an open bar and bathroom which makes it pleasurable win or lose. I highly recommend the box*.

Never, ever left a State Football Game until it was over ...

but I understand an alum getting a head start back to the coast or such ... if the team is up by 20.

To me, that makes a lot more sense than a student with a room on campus or in Starkville leaving before the game is decided.

I honestly do miss my old seats which were on row nine on the west side on

about the 15 yard line. It's just not the same sitting up there in the box but the amenities trump the almost on the field experience I suppose. Club level is great too.

Cowherd did a segment recently saying the only power an alum has is if he will leave early or not go to games. He said the guy who hasn't missed a game in however many years isn't a great fan, he's a dumbass. He says if you don't like what you see, don't go. That's a slight hijack but I thought it was pertanent.

If a game is in question I stay.

If we are beating an inferior team soundly I will stay through the second half, and usually leave midway through the 3rd. I like catching a glimpse of the younger guys to have an idea of what our team will be like a few years down the road.

If we are beating an SEC team by any amount I will stay until the end. Savor the meaningful victories when you can.

If we are being beaten soundly (20+) I will usually reach my breaking point in the 3rd quarter and return to the tailgate for food and drink and finish the game on TV.

In the LSU game I gave up sometime early in the 4th quarter. They kept scoring and we had no answer at all and to me it was clearly over.

I think the game times play a some part in it for students and alums. My theory is that students start tailgating/partying early afternoon. The party gets interrupted by the game. If the game isn't entertaining they naturally want to go back to the party. For the alums, they get up early on Saturday morning drive a couple hours to the game tailgate a for 3 or 4 hours. Load the gear back in the vehicle and go to the game. About 8:30 they start thinking "if I leave now, I can beat the traffic and get back home before 11:00. If I wait until the game is over I will be lucky to be home by 1:00" Right now, except for the CBS game, no game can start between noon and 6:00. When that changes next year there should be more afternoon games. I think that could change the dynamic some. Plenty of time after the game to party and/or drive home.

Having said all of that. The quality of the game is the biggest factor.

If it is a night game and we are up big late, I may leave to get a jump on the 2.5 hour drive home (if we are not staying overnight). If we are losing, no matter how bad, I stay to the end. May be just me, but I will never willingly abandon my stadium in defeat to the other team. It's bad enough that the opposing fans get to celebrate at your place, much less let them see you filing out of the stadium early.

Generally no preset criterion for leaving, but I'll leave a little early if we're ahead or behind in a blowout and it's obvious we can't win/lose.

This past weekend we decided beforehand to leave at halftime, regardless of what was happening in the game, because we had to drive all the way back to Huntsville. Got here well after midnight. Had we stayed, and with the additional traffic after the game, it would have been closer to 3 a.m.

I thought that too after a year in Club right after it opened. Went back to the west side for one year. Missed the amenities and the nice seats so much that I moved back and have been there ever since. I really like it now and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Never been in a suite, and don't really want to.

Just curious, why even go to a game like Bowling Green (or Alcorn State, Troy, ect) if you are planning to bail early from the get go? You drove 7+ hours to only watch a half of football. I suppose it was homecoming, so other festivities outside of football were abundant.

I know, Bowling Green was actually a decent team, but it isn't a game most people really care that much about (aka not an SEC game)

Yeah I asked myself the same question. We had decided earlier in the week not to go, but on Saturday, after I'd canceled the hotel, my wife decided she wanted to drive down and back. So we did. I got trumped.

Sadly LSU is the first game I remember ever leaving early. Post-night game driving is becoming more of a factor.
