First of all, we want UK to lose that game. A win for them guarantees them a better bowl than us no matter what we do. They will have 7 wins and will probably go ahead of usif it comes down to them and us for the Music City Bowl. Secondly, for SEC Bowl Revenue purposes, we want as many SEC teams in as possible. A Tennessee win gets them in, and we wouldn't lose one of our SEC slots to another conference who has more bowl eligible teams. So if we win the Egg Bowl, I'm pulling for TN to win. If we lose the Egg Bowl, I'm pullingfor UK because there is a chance Tennessee could go ahead of us if they win and we lose.

Same thing for Georgia. If we get an Egg Bowl victory, I'm pulling for Georgia. Georgia being bowl eligible is more money for SEC schools to share around. If we win the Egg Bowl, we guarantee a better spot than Georgia, and I want them to get a bowl for money purposes.LSU Arkansas game doesn't really matter. We will finish behind both of them, and they both will get a better bowl than us.

ETA: Anytime I say ahead, I mean in terms of bowl money payout. Music City and Peachpay more than Liberty.

That is simply untrue. One way to see that is in untrue is that the next sentence you use the word probably in explaining it.

You've got to think that would happen. I shouldn't have said guarantees because I know it doesn't, but I would put a lot of money on the fact they would take UK with 7 wins over us with 8 if it came down to us for the Music City Bowl. Geography plays a huge role for them because UK is a huge draw for them, and would be a better draw than MSU would be in terms of fan support. We would bring a lot of people, but I would think the Music City's established record of taking them over better or equal teams would speak for itself in this situation.

Now if we get 8 wins and Auburn goes to the BCS Title game and we get another SEC school get a BCS bowl, none of this will matter because we will be guaranteed no worse than Music City because we would be guaranteed ahead of Georgia, and there aren't enough teams to fill the rest of the slots. A maximum of 10 teams can get in right now if TN and GA win.A win for us putsus ahead of them AND would put us ahead of UK. So we would be 7th in the SEC, and wouldn't have to worry about it. But I have a feeling if UK wins and we win, the Music City Bowl may come calling for them again. </p>

even if it helps us get a better bowl, not after the way they have trashed us. If we wanted to go to a better bowl, we should have taken care of business on the field, not hoping for another team to lose.

In 2006, SC beat UK, had the same record, and they took UK.
In 2007, we beat UK, had the same record, and they took UK.
In 2009, they had the same record as Arkansas, who they didn't play that year, but they took UK.

If they win and we lose, they will go to the Music City Bowl ahead of us because there is the track record of it happening. We beat them, would have the same record, and they would still probablytake UK.

Now they may not pass over us if we get to 8 wins and they get to 7, but I think we should be at least a little concerned about it.

Both were 7-5,but UK (4-4) had a better SEC record than South Carolina (3-5). Picking Kentucky makes sense.

In 2007, we beat UK, had the same record, and they took UK.
Both were 7-5, and MSU (4-4) had the head-to-head win and a better SEC record than UK (3-5). No excuse here. Nashville = closer to Lexington; Memphis = closer to Starkville. We got the shaft.

In 2008, Music City took Vandy (6-6, 4-4 SEC) over Kentucky (6-6, 2-6 SEC). Obvious choice, but no blatant favortism towards Kentucky.

In 2009, they had the same record as Arkansas, who they didn't play that year, but they took UK.
In 2009, all the below teams were 7-5. Parenthesis indicates SEC record.
OUTBACK: Auburn (3-5)
PEACH BOWL: Tennessee (4-4)
MUSIC CITY BOWL: Kentucky (3-5)
LIBERTY: Arkansas (3-5)
INDEPENDENCE: Georgia (4-4)
PAPA JOHNS: South Carolina (3-5)

Any of these teams could have gone anywhere. It was a crapshoot. Music City took the closest team.

I basically agree with you except thatI am not concerned about losing the Music City bid to Kentucky if we beat ole miss. We'd be 8-4 with 4 SEC wins, and Kentucky would be 7-5 with 3 SEC wins. They would be thrilled to get an 8-4 team there in this situation, but I think at 8-4, we go to either the Peach Bowl orGator Bowl.

If we both finish 7-5 and 3-5 in the SEC, andwe are on a 3-game losing streak, then if Music City has it's choice, it will surely choose Kentucky again. But in this position, weplayed our way out (3 straight losses) and Kentucky played their way in (3 straight wins).

If it wound up costing us a bowl game period I wouldn't cheer for Auburn.

I'm still trying to decide whether I'll give even their name a ban in my posts. Maybe I'll just call then the SA-17ers.

Eventually folks would figure out who I meant, or they wouldn't (not that anyone care swhat I think. I almost don't).
