Nice week 6 wins by Herscher and Manteno. Manteno (unless they have a huge letdown) just punched their ticket to the playoffs. Streator gets their 5th loss and wont be getting in. Here is week 7:
Herscher (2-5) @ Reed Custer (1-6): Herscher picks up a big win. Not sure if they finally got healthy but they picked up their second win against Streator. No surprises that Wilmo rolled RC. Tigers start a win streak here in a competitive game. Herscher 30 RC 20
Manteno (3-4) @ Streator (2-5): Manteno wins a big game against rival Peotone. Streator might of already packed it in for the year. Manteno keeps rolling here. Manteno 35 Streator 13
Lisle (4-3) @ Peotone (5-2): Lisle got dominated by CC and Peotone laid an egg against Manteno. Not sure if Lisle will have their QB back but if nit they are pretty much one dimensional. Peotone needs this win with Wilmo waiting in week 9. Devils squeeze one out here. Peotone 21 Lisle 14
#1 (3A) Wilmington (7-0) @ #3 (4A) Coal City (7-0): Big game, big rivalry. Conference title at stake. Wilmington really hasn't been tested much this year. Racking up huge yards on the ground. Looks like they have even have been slinging the ball around. Their D has been good but have been scored on. They have had three opponents score over 20 points on them. They have a healthy Shaw and Rodowald so they will be at full strength. After a tough two non conference games, The Coalers haven't been tested in the ICE. Jezik has been on an unreal run. Already well over 1000 yards. Hutchings has had a great season too. Looking like a three year starter at QB. Defensively they have given up 14 points in 5 ICE games. They have been dominate at times. Their front seven is as good as it gets at the 4A level. They will be tested by the ground and pound this week. Wilmington will try to slow this game down, three yards and a cloud of dust and control the clock with long scoring drives. Not an easy task against the Coaler defense but it has worked all season. Coalers have been much more balanced on Offense. Now that Jezik is only playing offense he hasn't slowed down during the game. Both of these teams know each other very well and it will come down to which team can control the line of scrimmage. I think Wilmington doesn't have the athletes to match up with the Coalers. I think the Cats will score on the Coalers and at least control the time of possession. Both teams know how big this game is and the atmosphere will be electric. I think the outcome will be similar to last year. Coalers 34 Cats 13
